ABSTRACT

This research paper was composed to describe (1) biological conditions of flood victims in
Cieunteung Village (2) how qualitative method used (3) informants were the head and the residents
of the village. Those parts illustrated and interpreted the result of the research from biological,
psychological, social, and spiritual aspects.

This research revealed that the biological conditions of the flood victims in Cieunteung
Village were some sort of malnutrition, dirty environmental problems, difficulties in applying
healthy and clean habit, or even those diseases that caused by the flood. Meanwhile, their
psychological condition was all about unstable emotional state. Through lots of pressure they had,
they were so vulnerable and could easily suffer from shock or even frustration.

The social conditions shown were the relationship pattern or the interaction of the society
that became flood victims, within the society and also with another societies that didn’t get the
impacts of the flood.

As for the spiritual conditions, the residents were still performing religious acts as they
used to, according to their own beliefs, showing that their beliefs toward their own religions were
still intact. Some of the facilities within the shelter were utilized for mass prayers. (4) In the time
of the flood, emotional state of the residents tended to be unstable and so their concern about
nutrition was set aside. It was then suggested for the local government (Kabupaten Bandung) to
increase the assistance especially trauma healing for those victims.
