Lesson Plans for week April 23

Monday April 23
Objectives:
● Students will read the chapter Eight of Soldier’s Heart
● Students will demonstrate their comprehension of the chapter in their chapter
questions
● Students will reflect on the chapter in a reflection writing assignment
Procedures:
● If needed, students will be given time to finish the previous chapters as well as
their comprehension questions
● The teacher will pass out the Soldier’s Heart novels to the class
● The teacher will read chapter eight of the novel to the students
● Students will complete the chapter eight comprehension questions
● The teacher will post the reflection question, read, and explain it to students
● The students will work on the reflection until the end of the period
Modifications:
● Co-teachers moving about the room helping students to get the assignments
understood and performed properly
● Students will have the novel’s chapters read aloud to them
● Students will have their assignments read aloud to them
Assessments:
● Formative- Student will complete comprehension questions for chapter eight
● Formative- Students will complete a reflection question for deeper level thinking

Thursday April 26
Objectives:
● Students will read chapters nine and ten of Soldier’s Heart
● Students will demonstrate comprehension of the chapter in their chapter
questions
● Students will design a storyboard over the events of the novel
Procedures:
● The teacher will pass back the class copies of the novel
● The teacher will read chapters nine and ten to the students
● Students will then complete their chapter questions for the novel
● Students will then begin their storyboard assignment with partners
Modifications:
● Co-teachers moving about the room helping students to get the assignments
understood and performed properly
● Students will have the novel’s chapters read aloud to them
● Students will be provided with the materials to complete their creative storyboard
assignment
Assessments:
● Formative- Students will be answering comprehension questions based on the
chapters they have read
● Summative- Students will be completing a storyboarding assignment based on a
rubric provided

Friday April 27
Objectives:
● Students will design a storyboard over the events of the novel
Procedures:
● The teacher will pass back the class copies of the novel
● The teacher will give students their materials for their storyboard project
● Students will work with their partners on their storyboard project for the rest of the
period
Modifications:
● Co-teachers moving about the room helping students to get the assignments
understood and performed properly
● Students will have the novel’s chapters read aloud to them
● Students will be provided with the materials to complete their creative storyboard
assignment
Assessments:
● Summative- Students will be completing a storyboarding assignment based on a
rubric provided
