I. Introduction

Core Gateways……

Core Gateways San Jose is established to provide a high-quality education for any students

who wants to take (courses…).

Now, as we expand our knowledge, we chose the Core Gateways to become our client. We

found out that they need assistance because they have three new laboratories that they need to be

configured and connected to a same network. They also allowed us to test their current network if it

works well with appropriate speed for their needs.

II. Problem Domain

A. Statement of the Problem

Core Gateways are currently having a maintenance. It comes up with the new facilities, rooms

and equipment. But as they expand, they encounter some unexpected problems. Since its still summer

vacation, they want to solve it because classes will resume this coming June 2018.

One of their problem is that they have three new laboratories with new computers and

equipment. These computers are still not connected to each other and they want it to be connected so

that they will not have a hard time in checking the student works when classes resume. Another

problem is that they want to know if their network still works well since they got new facilities and

these new facilities can affect the performance and speed of their current network. They want to have

a network design that shows that there is no problem in their current network.

B. Objectives

General Objective

The general objective of this study is to enhance and test the current network of Core

Gateways. It also aims to build a network in Core Gateways three new laboratories.

Specific Objectives

1. To check the current network performance.

2. To make a new network that will connect the new computers in the new laboratories.

3. To test and evaluate the new network.

4. To make a network design for the laboratories.

C. Scope and Significance

Scope

The scope of this study is to enhance and test the current network of Core Gateways. It also

aims to build a connection between the new computers in the new laboratory of Core Gateways

having a proper network design.

Significance

The existing connection speed and performance of Core Gateways will be measured. This

will determine if they will need an upgrade for their current network. The new network that this study

aims to build will help the faculty to monitor and manage the work of their students. The network

design will help the organization when they will have a maintenance again and they will determine

easily where the problem comes.

Limitation

The study will only focus on enhance and test the current network, to build a new network for

the laboratories and have a network design for the Core Gateways. There will be no other

configuration and modification except for the new network that the study will make.
III. Review of Related Literature and Study
IV. Methodology

This study will use the CISO’s approach in making a study or the PPDIOO approach. It stands

for Prepare Plan Design Implement Operate and Optimize. It is also called as a lifecycle of a network

design.

Figure 1. Network Methodology

Prepare

In this phase, the team will look for a client in which they found an opportunity or problem

on their existing network. In this study, the chosen client is the Core Gateways. The team will

interview the chairperson or the president of the organization to know what problems they encounter

and will tell them the proposed solution that can help them.

List of questions the team asked to the Core Gateways:

 What is the history of Core Gateways.

 What are the problems you encounter on their current network?

 What are the things you allow us to do?

 Is there any additional task you like us to do?

Plan

In this phase, the team will identify the network requirements that will be stated by Core

Gateway College.
