In this paper author researches the topic manly in two categories , firstly, trying
to present and understand the true picture of Indian legislations in regard water
pollution control. Secondly , analyze the importance of public participation in
preserving the water as a natural resource, since its well said, we do not realize
the importance of water unless the well is dry.

CHAPTER –I
INTRODUCTION
Introduction to water pollution control talks about realizing water as
an important component of life, its essential as a biotic component.
Also mentioning its importance as it’s a legally recognized right in
our country under article 21.Thus this chapter forms the base of the
alerting problem of an hour and helps to orderly organize the pattern
of research.

This chapter deals with sources of water pollution since
author feels its important to have deep understanding of the
subject which is possible if we know the sources .

WATER LAWS IN INDIA
This chapter deals with history of water pollution laws and enactments,
also dealing with legal provisions made in respect of preservation of water. Thus
author tries to explain all the provisions in respect to water conservation and steps
taken for its implementation. Constitutional recognisation and laws dealing with
are also mentioned .
CHAPTER –IV
JUDICIAL RECOGNISATION OF WATER RIGHTS
This chapter highlights the problem why water acts are not properly
implemented and highlights the actual problem why we cannot
achieve the epitome of hygienic water conditions and achieve the
very purpose of water acts. This chapter deals with giving
authentication to paper by attaching and explaining real life
instances of how water is getting polluted , how measures
taken are turning out to be a failure. Also case laws are being
mentioned so as to explain the instances and help readers
know about real life situation ultimately realizing how
important it is to conserve water pollution which is next to
impossible without the aid of public participation. Thus it can
be a positive outcome of collective efforts.
