Argumentative Artifact

The artifact that I will be writing about is my essay that is based on John Proctor’s

honorability. I received my artifact, my junior year in my English class by my teacher Mrs.

Vanhill. The first thing I had to do to get my artifact was to complete my essay and turn it in on

time. I also had to go into detail on why John Proctor was an honorable man. After giving detail

and defending my perspective on John Proctor, I was handed back my essay the next day I saw

my English teacher. This argumentative essay was challenging to write about, butI knew that this

essay was something I am able to showcase my writing skills on.

My artifact is shown as an argumentative artifact because in this specific essay I went

against my classmates if John Proctor was an honorable or not. To be able to achieve a good

grade in my argumentative essay, I had to provide the reader with a strong hook and powerful

evidence that shows that my argument is agreeable. This specific argumentative artifact is special

to me because I knew that I would be able to showcase my strong side of writing. I am well

aware that I am able to write an essay packed of strong evidence and also a strong ending.

The SLO’s that helped me complete this argumentative essay was critically thinking and

an effective communicator. This argumentative essay shows that I am a critical thinker because it

shows whether I had to go against John Proctor or stay on his side. I chose to stay on his side and

say that he was an honorable man because there was plenty of evidence to back up my arguments

and prove those who opposed me wrong. I also showed that I was an effective communicator

because I had to talk to my classmates who went against my argument in order to prove them

wrong. In that way, the reader will be on my side and not my opponent's side.

Finally, after writing this argumentative essay I have grown to back up my future essays

with more evidence and prove my opponent wrong. I am able to use these skills later on in the

future when I have to write an essay in college. Also, I am able to use this skill for any future

jobs and presentations. After this essay, I have learned that I am able to write an argumentative

essay with enough evidence and backup from the source so that the reader chooses my side. I

still need to work on getting small things right such as underlining the books name and also some

spelling.
