Production Bearings
After manufacture, the production Bearings (34) will be only verified through the Quality Control
test program. This test consist of running 3 cycles under a load and displacement specified in the
box below.
After a Quality Control test, no visual inspection is required under the EPS manufacturing system.

At the end of the quality control test for FPT 15641 #B5, the bearing did not come back to its original
position (centered), hence, the Upper Main Concave Plate fell down from one side at the momento the
vertical load was removed. (See Image 1)
This condition called the attention of the SGS Representative (Rolf Robe) who requested the EPS personnel
to disassemble the bearing for a visual inspection. A thorough visual inspection after quality control test of a
production bearing is not a common practice.
After the visual inspection, Mr. Robe considered that the lower friction surface of the inner slider had a
unusual wear (see image 6) and that the Slider Concave Plate had a sticky substance which seemed to be
coming out of the friction material. (See images 3 and 4).
This bearing remained disassembled for further consultation to Dr. Victor Zayas in the next day.
