Dear Rumpole,

I recently traveled to our Nation's capital ahead of the 'March For Our Lives' to join the District and State
Attorneys of the national organization Prosecutors Against Gun Violence (PAGV), survivors, advocates,
congressional lawmakers, and law enforcement for a Press Conference to urge congress to pass critical
gun safety legislation which may save lives.

Joining me at this important event was Los Angeles City Attorney Mike Feuer, Manhattan District Attorney
Cyrus Vance Jr. , Senators Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), Chris Murphy (D-CT),
and Representative Salud Carbajal (CA-24). Other notables who took part were Brady Campaign to Prevent
Gun Violence Co-President Kris Brown, Everytown for Gun Safety Senior Managing Director Debbie Weir,
Moms Demand Action, Giffords Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence Executive Director Robyn Thomas,
Duke University Mental Health Expert Dr. Jeffrey Swanson, Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School
students David Hogg and Aalayah Eastmond, and Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Librarian Diana
Perri Haneski.

I want to particularly commend L.A. City Attorney Feuer and Manhattan DA Vance Jr. for their leadership
and commitment to advocate for important legislation, including an extreme risk protection order law,
universal background checks, and an assault weapons ban.

The gun violence we most recently saw in high schools in Parkland and in Southern Maryland is a part of
the gun violence epidemic plaguing every town, city and legal jurisdiction in America. It is our hope that the
clear voice of prosecutors, who face this violence on a daily basis, united with those high school students
from across our country who no longer find comfort in the simple act of attending class, will help inform our
legislators about the urgent need to change America's assault weapon status quo. Lives depend on such
changes.

Sincerely,
