Para medir las dimensiones de las partículas,
se emplean métodos que evalúan directamente el
diámetro aerodinámico, sin que se efectúen cálculos.
O bien, cuando se conocen estas últimas medidas,
se lo obtiene mediante los diagramas que se represen-
tan en la fig. 1-13.

Valedero para partículas muy pequeñas, las cuales
llevadas por el flujo de las corrientes de aire
que atraviesan el filtro, son atraídas por las
fibras del filtro por medio de fuerzas electromagnéti-
caso
El efecto de filtración aumenta al disminuir la
velocidad, el diámetro de las partículas y el
diámetro de las fibras, y al aumentar la densidad
de las mismas fibras (véase la fig. 1-16).

MECANISMO DE INlERCEPTACION
- Precipitación electrostática
Esta se basa en la aplicación de un campo eléctrico
al flujo de aire.
Las moléculas de aire,ionizado de tal manera, adhieren
al polvo; este úl timo, por efecto de la atracción
electrostática, va a amontonarse en una sección
sucesiva denominada sección de aglomeración. De

entre el aire y el fluido primario.
La evaluación analítica del coeficiente es
muy incierta porque resultan inciertas tanto la
determinación de las superficies de intercambio,
como la determinación de la temperatura superficial
media de las aletas. Además en el proceso de des-
humectación vienen a ser importantes no sólo la
superficie de intercambio entre el aire y el fluido
primario, sino también el número de las filas
en que ' se subdivide tal superficie. En efecto, desde
el punto de vista físico, el caudal del aire que
atraviesa una batería puede compararse con un
tren de moléculas en movimiento, encanalizado
entre dos paredes (aletas) que tienen una temperatura
superficial tm. Por efecto del contacto con las
paredes, las moléculas que consti tuyen los estratos
externos del flujo vienen a tener una temperatura
igual a la de las aletas. Cuando la temperatura
superficial tm es inferior a la temperatura de
rocio del aire, el enfriamiento se realiza con
una parcial condensación del agua presente en
el aire. A causa de la turbulencia, se tendrá

Vista la dificultad de una determinación analítica
de todos los coeficientes de intercambio térmico
que intervienen en el fenomeno, y dada la necesidad
de garantizar un factor de contacto entre el aire
y las aletas adecuado, para obtener la necesaria
deshumectación, los fabricantes de tales aparatos
han calculado el coeficiente total K de transmisión
refiriéndose a la superficie frontal del intercambia-
dor, tomando como medida la profundidad de una
fila y dejando la libertad de elegir el número
de las filas necesarias para obtener la superficie
total necesaria para el intercambio. Además, para
evitar el cálculo de B (Pv - Ps)/~tm,se ha introduci-
do un coeficiente correctivo:

Una buena distribución debe asegurar una diferencia
de temperatura no superior a 1,5°C entre los
diferentes puntos de un local, y de 2, 5°C entre
los distintos locales. Estos se obtiene mediante
una correcta ubicación de las rejillas de difusión
y de las rejillas colectoras, una justa distribu-
ción, y caudal de aire que evite la estratificación
y una conveniente posición del termóstato y
del higróstato en el ambiente.
Otro elemento que debe tenerse presente es
la temperatura del aire a la salida de la rejilla.
Es importante, dado que el uso de bajas temperatu-
ras comporta volúmenes elevados, altas velocidades
del aire en los ambientes y, en consecuencia,
sensaciones desagradables para los ocupantes;
mientras que las temperaturas altas comportan
pérdidas elevadas en la caldera y a lo largo
de las cañerías, bajos volúmenes de aire, una
distribución deficiente y una posible estratifica-
ción de la temperatura.
De aquí que durante el invierno, si la temperatura
en el interior del ambiente oscila alrededor
