AIM

The aim of Fundamentals of Information Technology course is to expose students to the fundamentals of information technology with emphasis on
applications that is widely used with specific reference to Microsoft Office. This course will also expose students to related topics about Internet
such as e-mail, web page and cyber system.

OBJECTIVES

The objectives of this course are:

To introduce basic information technology applications to students with the aim of developing their IT literacy.

To provide the students exposure to Microsoft Office Software which include word processing, electronic spreadsheet, presentation and
electronic data base applications.

To expose the students to the Internet, Cyber System and to contemporary issues in relation to the uses of the computer.

AIM
The aim of this part is to provide an extended introduction to the concepts of multimedia through the study of interactive multimedia elements.

OBJECTIVE
The objectives of this course are:
To introduce the basic concepts of multimedia.
To introduce different types of multimedia hardware and software.
To expose students to different techniques of integrating multimedia elements with interactive computer capabilities.
To expose students to the skill in designing and developing multimedia presentation.

TEACHING/LEARNING METHODOLOGY
The teaching/Learning methodology to be adopted is as follows:
Lessons should be conducted in English.
Practical sessions ( hands-on ) to be conducted for two hours per week for each group of students.
Theoretical topics shall be incorporated in the topics suitable for practical sessions. For example, introduction to cyber law can be taught during the
lesson on word processing.
The group of students should not be more than 15. (It is recommended that for each tutorial group (practical session) should be limited to 10 students
only)
Lecturers have the right to make little adaptations to the syllabus if deemed necessary.
