1. T: “what’s on your heart today?” 2. Ss raise their hands to give ideas. T writes ideas on the board. 3. T and Ss decide which 3 are the most important. 4. T: “Tell me about your experiences with ______________ 5. T writes down phrases that could be used as song lyrics.
Activity 2: Creating the Song
Harmony 1. T: “who wants to be the singers, and who wants to be our rhythm section?” 2. T: “we need to create a pattern that we can play over and over again. 3. T: “what is the mood of our song? Fast or Slow? What instruments?” 4. T: “we need one or two people to be the steady beat on something?” 5. T: “what chords do we know?” C, F, Am! 6. Once they have something keep playing it over and over as singers work on the lyrics. Melody 7. T: “Do you see an important phrase for our topic here?” T speaks it with a rhythm. Ss echo. 8. Write down the phrases they decide are important. 9. T says them all rhythmic, Ss echo. 10. When you hear a melody for these phrase go ahead start singing it. 11. T: “does anybody want to freestyle?” 12. Arrange the lyrics into a song, (intro, verse, refrain, coda)
Activity: Perform!! 1. Record a couple times. 2. Write it down to remember it.
