Dear Parents, 

We are beginning our next unit on Multiplication. Although we are learning the basic principles 
of multiplication, students WILL NOT be memorizing multiplication facts. Instead, we are 
learning about equal groups, arrays, and repeated addition. We hope this Study Guide will help 
you understand what we are learning in class.

The equation by rows is 3 + 3 + 3 + 3 + 3 = 15 
The equation by columns: 4 + 4 = 8 
The equation by columns is 5 + 5 + 5 = 15
