Lesson Plan 1
Level: Lower 6
The Jigsaw cooperative learning strategy which is simply known as the "jigsaw"
model assist students in creating their own learning model while working in groups and
individually. Teachers can use this strategy of teaching to arrange students in learning groups.
In this group structure each group member would be given a different pieces of information.
Then each group member with the same piece of information is asked to join with members
of another group. All persons in the group given the same piece of information form a new
group, they were then asked to gather what they know on the topic, research all new materials
and/or share ideas about the information. Eventually, the students return to their original

The Jigsaw strategy was chosen as it made students learning to be a more student-
centred together with a core group cooperative style. The Jigsaw strategy engaged the entire
class participation this was inclusive of all group members, ensuring each individual in the
classroom played an essential role in the gathering the knowledge base for the topic; in so
doing coming together to form a clearer picture eventually meeting the Jigsaw model learning
outcomes. The Jigsaw model was ideal to use with the Form 6 level, it was very student-
centred except for the organization of the groups and questions which was the teacher’s role
in carrying out the lesson plan and ensuring all students got the desired outcome.
