One of my biggest strengths is my keen desire to acquire knowledge that I try to satiate
by reading extensively. My thirst for knowledge has helped me become a successful
quizzer; I have represented my college as a team captain and also conducted various
quizzes. These experiences along with my involvement with Terapanth Yuvak
Parishad(a youth forum) have put to test my ability to manage people who are
undoubtedly the most valuable resource in a company today.
I believe that my thirst for knowledge, ability to manage people combined with my
willingness to work diligently for what I wish to achieve will lead me up the
path to success and satisfaction.

I look at my life as an opportunity to succeed and also to learn from my everyday

experiences.

Additionally from my work experience, I have learnt to: work as a team towards a goal
under time and resource constraints, communicate clearly and efficiently with distributed
teams, encourage contrarian thinking.

My most significant accomplishment so far, apart from clearing CAT, has been clearing
the SSB interview for admission to National Defence Academy.I secured an All India
Rank 129 out of approximately 75000 students who appeared for this exam.

An innovative pedagogy and an emphasis on the practical applications appeal to me. I

believe that an mba from IIT Kanpur would best meet my needs and help me exploit my
potential to the maximum.

My innate strengths are to: view a problem from different perspectives, develop a
pragmatic approach to the problem,

My strengths are my virtues, without which I would not have been in a position where I
am now. I am a person well-groomed with the qualities like hard-working nature, self-
motivating, optimism and strong will power.

My past achievements such as State First Rank in ECET'99, National level prizes in
software competitions and my organizational abilities and leadership skills prove that,
given a chance to pursue PGP from IIM-B, I would strive to be best there too.

Values for me are the principles and the ethics which are inculcated in a person through
his upbringing. For me hard-work, compassion and non-violence are the values which I
implement in my daily life. I feel sympathy for people who live in distress and in poverty.
When In college,we had a boy in his teens working in the canteen. I, along with some of
my friends, was able to convince his parents about the importance of primary education.
I also took the initiative to ensure that his education (next 4years bole toh till what std ?)
was taken care of by generous sponsorships from our whole class.
Throughout my college life, I made a conscious effort to hone my people and
organizational skills via a wide variety of activities ranging from participating in social
service initiatives to organising the departmental seminar. In today’s competitive world,
these ‘soft’ skills are a must have for any aspiring entrepreneur.

I am a man of initiative. This was best exemplified in me taking the lead in forming the
ISTE Students Chapter in my college. Also i have a good sense of humour and make
friends easily.

My strengths are my virtues like strong willpower,self-motivating and curosity that

motivates investigation and study. My thirst for knowledge has helped me become a
productive quizzer; I have represented my college as a team captain and also
conducted various quizzes.Overall,I work diligently for what will lead me up to the path
of success and satisfaction.

Though I am not particular,I wish I were a little more assertive. Also,I am selfless

towards helping others, which at times go wrong.

My desire to be my own boss comes from a sense of independence that I have developed since the age

I have always been active in different extracurricular activities throughout school and
college like sports, quizzes and also been good at academics.I recieved the Assam
State Government Arundoram Barooah Award.
I have held different positions of responsibility in college like organising events and
technical festivals. This taught me the importance of management roles--planning,
working as a team, and coordinating the activities delegated to different team members.
During my summer training at CDAC,kolkata I found working in the field of software
development interesting.I familiarised myself with the design of a phonetics keyboard.
My application software was later revamped.

Throughout my college life, I made a conscious effort to hone my people and

organizational skills via my involvement with Terapanth Yuvak Parishad(a youth forum)
which takes social service initiatives. It put to test my ability to manage people who are

My most significant accomplishment so far, apart from clearing CAT,has been clearing

the CMAT exam.I secured an AIR 474 out of approximately 57000 students.
During my designation at TCS,I had the responsibility of coding some parts of an
application, documenting the program specifications and making appropriate test cases
for the application.Overall,it was an initiation to business environment, good foundation
in teamwork and strong analytical problem-solving skills.
An innovative pedagogy and an emphasis on the practical applications appeal to me. I
believe that an mba from IITK would best meet my needs and help me exploit my
potential to the maximum.
I therefore want to have a thorough grounding in all management disciplines, understand how
companies are run, how they obtain funding, how they manage risks, how they study and understand
the market, how they identify prospective clients, etc.
This will allow me to enter the corporate world fully equipped with all theoretical and
practical skills, which will aid me in facing the complex business environment with
confidence.
My long cherished dream has been to establish a business that can significantly contribute to the growth of the nation. I
believe that to achieve this goal, requires an understanding of the intricate details about working of a business entity. It
would also require understanding of the people and the business scenarios both Indian as well as global. My short term
goal after post-graduation is to work in an established and renowned organization before venturing into my own
establishment to fulfill my long term goal. A strong inclination towards analytical and reasoning aspects of learning made
me choose Engineering for Graduation. Juggling academics and extra-curriculars helped me hone my analytical and
management skills. The next logical step towards the attainment of my goal would be pursuing a professional
management course. FMS attracts me towards this program due to the balance between conceptual learning and
industrial practices as well as the sensitivity of the curriculum towards new trends in managerial practices. Picking up a
line from the FMS brochure “ the difference is due to the people” – I hope to learn from the vast community of teachers,
students and alumni of the institute.
These, in combination with my experiences in a company which is truly driving change –
TCS, and the experiences/knowledge that IIM B can offer should help me have an
exciting career as a successful manager.
Studying at IIT means interacting with some of the best brains of India. Moreover Delhi
quickly being a hub for corporate world makes IITD best place to study.

After my graduation, I joined Computer Sciences Corporation, an IT company

where I am presently working as a system support engineer. The 19 months experience
in the company has exposed me to various business related aspects and organizational
aspects in addition to the technical aspects.

SJMSOM, can definitely help me to achieve my goal. So, I find this place much worthy
to invest my two years to bridge the gap between where I am and what I want to be.

I find no challenge greater then, than pursuing my job as a Software suite design
engineer in TCS. During my designation at TCS, I had the responsibility of coding some
parts of an application, documenting the program specifications and making appropriate
test cases for the application as a leader. It was an initiation to business environment,
teamwork and solving strong analytical problems.
Managing a team of 6 executives was a challenge but never a problem as I had
participated a wide variety of activities ranging from social service initiatives to
organizing college technical fests in my college life. As I started handling more
responsibilities I begin improving my decision-making skills, public relations skills and
understanding organizational psychology and behavioral patterns.
A challenge when overcome, becomes an opportunity for growth, else a constraint. My
work experience has enabled me to understand the dynamic nature and various
challenges involved in today’s corporate world. It has also made me realize the
necessity of strong leadership for the success of an organization. Additionally, I have
learnt to: work as a team towards a goal under time and resource constraints,
communicate clearly and efficiently with distributed teams, encourage contrarian
thinking. These challenges during my professional life have always been a driving force
in my life and have motivated me in performing better at anything I do. They made me
realize that, in order to achieve my long term career goal I should hone my business
and interpersonal skills and have a proper understanding of the way the world does
business today.

and give me the opportunity to come closer with like-minded people from whom I can
share and learn. I
feel that I have acquired the requisite amount of knowledge in the nitty-gritty of software
product design, development and testing and now it is time to leverage my skills and
gain some managerial education. Hence an MBA study comes as an obvious choice to
me aiming to be a true and responsible corporate professional with a great sense of
Management, leadership and mentorship.

Growing up in a business family has exposed me to the intricacies and complexities of

business dynamics. I found that running a business was not only challenging but also
highly satisfying and rewarding.I dream of expanding my family business beyond the
realms of local comptetion to competing at national and international level. Hence I
aspire to be a successful entrepreneur. But, since business problems span multiple
domains, its essential for me to have a sound knowledge in various fields like
marketing, accounting, economics, finance, human resource, operations, economics
etc. in order to successfully handle them. I need to understand the economic
implications of decision, budjeting, strategymanagement,HR practices etc in a formal
atmosphere.
Here, I perceive the need to undergo formal management education which would equip
me with the right abilities to tackle the challenges that I may face while growing up in my
profession and take decisions confidently. It would help me achieve great heights in
professional life and help me contribute to the society. My shortterm goal after MBA is to
work with a organisation for a span of 1-2 years to apply my newly acquired knowledge
and skills.
I definitely expect to assimilate, practice and enhance peer to peer learning skills from
the great amount of personal and corporate experiences with like-minded people. My
interaction with persons from diverse backgrounds will broaden their vision and outlook
about life. IIT roorkee is my natural choice for management studies as it has faculty of
international standards, small batch size, and strong alumni network. With its emphasis
on excellence and leadership and innovative courses which match my interests I believe
that IIT roorkee will help me achieve my career goals.

Having obtained a practical insight into the challenges confronted by the corporate
world has made me realize the crucial role played by management towards the
successful accomplishment of any activity.
