Why do you think there was a general sense of disillusionment in the western world in the

decades following the end of World War II? How was this reflected in some of the artistic expression?

The world has been in a cold war, where two big radical opposition meet face to face. The old allies in

world war II has become the greatest enemy. The world tension grow each year, the feel of

disillusionment was great because it was a believe that World War II will bring peace not another war.

The first reason of the disillusionment was the rapidly changing world. Civil right and human

right movement has influence people mind in a revolutionary struggle for a better society. Technology

that has grown so fast to the point we can’t catch up. World War II has created much positive change but

let’s not forget its negative change.

The second reason of the disillusionment was the booming protest for democracy and equality,

Anti-war movement, civil right movement and many more has cause nuance of us with the feeling that the

peace we’ve sought years before cannot be maintain. The baby-boomer and its alternative culture have

created a new way of life that was can be seen as neither good nor bad.

The third reason of the disillusionment was a new cultural expression that was brought by an

alternative culture, the rise of feminism and anti-war propaganda or pacifism has created a generation of

weaklings. That the people sought peace without war. Vietnam was a televised war; every bit of action in

there can be seen by the masses. After world war people expect peace but they were given otherwise.
The fourth of the disillusionment was a revolutionize art and music industry which they influence

the youth who was the future. Materialistic object has been the new fashion and art, the music industry

has created their own new genre of rock n roll that was leaded by Elvis Presley, the radical revolutionize

change of society has create the feeling disillusionment with the increasing world tension between the

capitalist USA and the communist USSR, it worsen the fate of the world.

Suggest how the changing cultural expressions – for example, in respect to women’s right and to

the environment – may have laid the foundation for attitudes held towards such issues today? Within the

end of World War 2, women was in workforce when men were out to war, this has changed the culture

and society of western nation.

Modern feminist movement was based on ability that women can do men’s work, thus making

them equal to men.
