Congratulations to our First Communicants

It is with great joy that we congratulate this year’s first communicants. As these young children
gather around the Table of the Lord to begin a life long journey of spiritual nourishment in the
Holy Eucharist, let us remember our responsibility to help them stay close to the Lord Jesus.
As our young communicants gather we are mindful of the many people who have helped them in their
formation. We offer our gratitude to our Faith Formation Director, Mrs. Kathy Miller; and our catechists
Mrs. Dorothy Weldon and Ms. Sarah Wray for their service to our second graders and their families. Ad-
ditionally we offer our prayers and congratulations to the following children and families: Emma Bartkus,

Love One Another: The Call to Build Relationships – As the On Mis-

sion for The Church Alive! announcements continue to sink in, we hear Je-
sus’ call in today’s Gospel to “love one another.” It’s a simple command,
without condition or rationalization. To love one another is the call of the
Christian life and is at the heart of the On Mission! initiative. In the com-
ing months the parishes in our grouping will begin to work together to
build relationships rooted in faith, hope and love. These relationships should not be forced or
fake but should recognize that we are one in our Catholic faith and that nothing should divide
us. Then, with our common faith and love for one another as our foundation, we will be able
to form parishes that are truly alive as resources, efforts and energies are shared. It can be easy
to love what is familiar to us. As we journey On Mission for The Church Alive! let us seek

SUMMERFEST 2018
There will be a SummerFest planning meeting on Wednesday,
May 23rd at 7:00pm in Fr. Leger Hall/Madonna Cafeteria.
Anyone interested in helping is asked to attend.
SummerFest is Friday, July 20th and Saturday, July 21st.

Duquesne University’s largest open house event, DuquesneFest, will be held this summer on
Sunday, June 10, 2018 beginning at 8:00am. This exciting day is a fun way for Fall 2018
high school seniors to learn more about the University.

Catholic Charities' Washington County 23nd Annual Golf Classic

This June 13th, Catholic Charities’ Washington office hosts its 23nd Annual Golf Classic at
Lone Pine Country Club. It will be a Scramble Format with a Shot Gun start at 1pm. Ideal
for relaxing, networking, and/or entertaining clients, the Golf Classic supports program-
ming at Catholic Charities’ Washington County Outreach, including Basic Needs Assis-
tance, Pregnancy and Parenting Support, and Professional Counseling Services. To pur-
