Summative Assessment

Directions:

1. Identify a job where fractions would be helpful. Explain how fractions might help at the
job you choose.
2. Create a word problem that involves the job you chose and a person must determine if
two fractions are equal or not. (The choice is yours if your fractions will be equal or not.)
3. Draw your fractions using either a number line or an equally divided shape.
4. Label your drawings with the proper numerator and denominator.
5. Give your problem to another group and take their problem and solve it. Explain your
answer.
6. On a poster board provide answers to the above tasks. Make one side your groups
problem and the other side the problem of the group you traded with.

Students will be given 40 minutes to work on the task and 15-20 minutes for their
presentation. Afterwards the class will assess each other’s work using the same rubrics from
lesson three. The teacher will also assess each groups work as well.
