Universal Design for Learning (UDL):

To improve their writing skills, I will assign my student to write a short paragraph in their own word
about the content they recently learned. Also, provide them lists of instruction how to write and
upload in classroom blogs. I will secure their names to avoid any conflict about the topic for not
writing properly. Additionally, allow them to post comments about their peers writing an assignment
with edit suggestions. To extend the principle of Universal Design for Learning, I will guide them to
the websites, and resources that are correlated with educational material. A student who do not
have computer or internet access I will let them write on paper and take a snapshot of their work
and then upload in classroom blogs.

Lesson idea implementation:

The project will be introduced by first the having discussion about who is their role model and
why.The teacher then tells the student to write a short story in paragraph format about their role
model life, such as their achievement, educations, hobbies, best quality and so on.The student will
be working as a group of three to edit each other paper and then write their final draft for blogs.
When the student completes their final paper, they have to upload their work into classroom blogs,

either by taking a picture of their work or as an attachment using a word document. The teacher will
also ask them to include the picture of their role model in classroom blogs as well.
Through this editing process, the student will learn to collaborate with their peer's views and
perspective and be able to improve their writing strategies.During this process, the teacher will
continue to monitor their student work for further assistance. It will take three to four days to
complete this writing project. Student learning will be assessed based on a rubric that provided by
the teacher prior to their writing assignment for grading purposes. It will help them to prepare more
effectively. The final product will be used to inform/differentiate learning by letting them work with
another student to understand what other strategies, technology or step they can take to enhance
their learning ability. To conclude the lesson student will present their final project in front of the
class and share their opinion and concerned as well.
Importance of technology:
Using a website-creation tool is critical to the project because it will allow the student to save all
their work at one place and be able to view their peer work as well. The project could be completed
without this technology, by using the traditional method, but it will be challenging for millennium
student who prefers to enjoy their work and learn at the same if its material is technology based.
The bigger loss for not using this technology will impact student learning significantly where they will
able to view their comments and, feedback from their peers and teacher to help them improve their
simple writing comprehension.

Internet Safety and Student Privacy:

Some possible issue surrounding internet safety and student privacy that could arise while
implementing this learning experience are when some student preferred to share their personal
information to get full credit for their work. To minimize the risk, I would educate my student about
online safety issues, and never disclose information that could jeopardize their safety. This would
help alleviate any fears by the parents/administrators as well as follow common internet
Safety/Acceptable use policies.
Reflective Practice:
After designing this lesson idea, I feel this activity could impact student learning because they have
an opportunity to experience another aspect of using technology and its related online safety
precautionary step. To extend the lesson I could have a student to work with their parents and
create the lists of the websites that are safe to use for their academic purposes and then share this
information with their class to avoid any conflict. Additionally, teaches them how to protect their
identity and find the proper source to research.
