Describe how you would use the Online Project/Collaboration Site/Publishing Opportunity in
your classroom: I would use this online project site to give my students the opportunity to be a
part of the life cycles of species around the world. Using their skills on different types of media to
present what they have learned on whichever type of animal they choose.
What technologies would be required to implement this proposed learning activity in a
classroom? What’s great about this site is the fact it is available on any device. The only thing that
is required is internet connection. The student my use computer, iPad, Kindle, our even their own
personal devices.
Describe how the following features are addressed in this learning experience (note: all of them
may not be addressed in the project, but most should be if you are reaching a high LoTi Level.):
a. Collaboration with peers, near-peers, mentors outside their classroom and often
beyond their school: One of the main advantages for using this site, is the fact you
are able to connect/collaborate with over 60,000 participants across the nation.
Giving them access to different ideas and perspectives.
b. Student-centered learning and knowledge creation (collecting original data and or
producing original products as a result of engaging in the project): While using
Journey North they will follow the migration and life cycle on the elegant Monarch
Butterfly. Where they will do reports/documentations of the beginning, middle,
and end of the life of a butterfly. Giving them the chance to experience what it
would feel like to be a butterfly.
c. Higher-order thinking: Students will demonstrate their high-order thinking by
having the freedom to decide how to design and what to present. Every detail will
be entirely up to them.
d. Students publishing their original work to others who will use/care about their
product: students will have the choice to putting their presentations on our
classroom’s blog or choosing to put it project showcase area.

online projects that is incorporating the use of technology which will also benefit them in a way
where they will use their projects as a reference of all the data.
How could you implement this proposed learning experience and still comply with your district’s
Internet Safety and Student Privacy policies? With any project involving internet activities you
have to inform your students on the safety guidelines of their school district. Since I will be
teaching second grade my students will be under the age of thirteen, meaning I as the teacher, I
will need to closely monitor the children as they use the equipment. Before using the parents and
administration will of course have to approve of the site.
