Pilot Wire Current Differential Protection

The 7PG21 is a three phase unit differential protection

used to detect in zone phase and earth faults. The relay is Key Features / Functions
applied to overhead line and underground cable circuits
as well as shorter circuits such as interconnectors.

This established protection system provides a simple, robust

 15kV Isolation Overcurrent Guard

The Solkor R/Rf relay has an insulation level of 5kV between
pilot connections and the local ground to withstand
voltages induced on the pilot cable due to coupling with the
fault current and to withstand differential ground voltages
caused by the flow of fault current. Experience has shown
that 5kV insulation is usually adequate for most distribution
feeders.
For higher voltage systems where feeders may be longer
and fault levels higher, an additional external isolation
transformer is available for use with the relay in Rf mode to
increase the voltage withstand to 15kV.
The Solkor relay can be used with an Overcurrent Guard
relay to avoid operation for damaged pilots during normal
load levels.
The 7SR11 numeric relay from the Argus range can connect
to the same CT’s and will have negligible additional AC
burden. The numeric relay also provides the traditional
Solkor scheme with waveform recording functions, data
storage and remote communications facilities.

to protection operation or short circuit pilots which will (PSSE) 7PG2120 15kV
greatly reduce the sensitivity of the relays under 7PG2132 scheme

Pilot supervision will not block relay operation but will receive end
