GMR-MAHB Consortium has signed the concession agreement with the Government of Republic of
Maldives to develop, operate and maintain the Malé International Airport (MIA).
Mott MacDonald has been appointed by GADL on behalf of GMR Malé International Airport Private Limited
for consultancy services for masterplanning and detailed engineering design services for expansion and
modernization of the airport.
In accordance with the requirements of the project, we have proposed that the Mott MacDonald CAD
manual be used which is presented in appendix A.
Further few project specific changes are necessary for the project. This is inline with clause 2.3.1, of the
Mott MacDonald CAD Manual which states that, “The project CAD standard may be produced as a
complete document in its own right or as a document listing only changes or additional requirements”. This
document will list the changes and additional requirement to be applied to the project.
2. Visual Identity
Project specific changes have been recommended by the client for the title block, these are:
The name of the architect IDA, along with its logo, the name of GADL as the works contractor also has
been added
An additional field added in the title block is “released for” check box is added, by virtue of which at a
glance the stage for which the drawing is released gets apparent.
The check boxes proved for the following stages of the project:
Master Plan
Scheme Design
Tender Design
Detail Design
As-Built
To facilitate landscape sized drawings appropriate for Master Plan stage of the project a landscape A1
frame has been developed. This is based largely on the portrait frame.
The title block including the changes as above looks like Figure 2.1, 2.2 below:
3. Data Structure
Though the concept of file naming using 7 fields from left to right is retained, a few deviations and project
specific modifications are as below:
Here a two-digit code has been used which defines the technical team who will be producing the data.
Here a two digit code has been used which defines whether the data produced is for
airside/landside/building or utilities. This is as per the clients requirements.

The AEC (UK) CAD standard is the preferred choice for the naming of layers. This is an attachment to the
CAD manual presented at appendix A.
However to accommodate further, airport related layers, are added as per appendix B to this document.
4. Drawing Management
The Mott MacDonald standard record of transmittals has been modified to include the following fields of
information in the template:
6 fields of discipline have been identified by the client as a handy reference to show at a glance for which
discipline data is being transmitted. This has been added just below the field of project number.
The name, telephone number and email ID of the issuer has been added in this field.
The name, date and space for stamp by the receiver has been added in this field.
For further details please refer to the transmittal sheet on the next page.
