German resistance intensifies, lit-
tering the Normandy countryside
with smashed tanks and bloody
bodies. Meanwhile, Corporal Stiles

rejoin their unit- assuming there's a
unit left to rejoin. Worse still,
mutiny begins to rear its head- at
the worst possible time, with hun-
gry Tigers on the prowl...

ZACK WRITES: I was checking out
Newsarama yesterday afternoon
and I came across the press release
about Dynamite landing the rights
to Green Hornet. I was immediately
excited because I'm a Green Hornet
fan, and it built upon my existing
excitement for the forthcoming
Buck Rogers series from Dynamite.
Dynamite has been putting out
some really fantastic work of late
and the level of care that is appar-
ent with your licensed properties is
a great example for others to fol-
low.
The second reason I am writing is
this: I don't know if you have
already selected an artist for the
Hornet series, but I would really
love to see Steve Bryant on the
book. Steve is the creator of Athena
Voltaire from Ape Entertainment,
and an Eisner nominee. He's doing
some work on IDW's 24 and,
according to his blog, is also work-
ing on an adaptation of the
Canterville Ghost. Steve has a
tremendous amount of talent in my
estimation and has a great eye for
design. He's also got a really great
feel for pulp-style action and, as I
noted, has done licensed work
before. Dynamite has a reputation

for putting out very high quality
comics and I am 100% certain that
Steve would follow in that tradition
for you.
I have commissioned work from
Steve in the past and could not
have been more satisfied. He's an
artist that I personally hold in the
highest esteem and I think he
would be an incredible asset on
Green Hornet. I genuinely cannot
think of another artist who would
come to the project with as much
enthusiasm and love for not only
the characters but, the characters'
pulp roots.
I don't mean to gush, I am just a fan
who is very excited about the book.
As soon as I saw the news immedi-
ately thought of Steve and how
much I would love to see him on
the book. I don't know if you have
had a chance to check the respons-
es on the Newsarama article, but I
think you'll see that I'm not alone in
my sentiments. I genuinely hope
that you seriously consider my
thoughts and recommendation.

ter. For anyone not in the know, this
past week we announced that
Dynamite will be the comic book
home for the Green Hornet

see from the comments there,
Steve’s name was certainly at the
top of the fan’s minds! We’ve got
big things planned for the Hornet
and Kato, stay tuned!

GREEN HORNET COMICS!
Dynamite Entertainment is pleased
to announce the latest star to join
the Dynamite roster of incredible tal-
ent - the legendary Green Hornet!
Star of film, television, radio and
comic books, The Green Hornet is
known for his distinctive mask, car
(The Black Beauty) and faithful side-
kick, Kato!
"We've been working on this one for
a long time now, I believe four years.
Since we started pursuing this,
they've also announced a movie for
next summer," explained Dynamite

Barrucci. "The Green Hornet is a cul-
tural icon and touchstone for mod-
ern super-heroes, including the
greats like Batman. To work with
such a character, and faithfully rep-
resent him along the lines of how
we've handled The Lone Ranger and
Zorro, and the upcoming Buck
Rogers, is truly a momentous oppor-
tunity. Over the last 4 years, fans
and creators have asked us if we
were negotiating for the Green
Hornet license, which we finally
have (big YES!), and we will be
announcing creators in the near
future."
The Green Hornet was originally cre-
ated by George W. Trendle for an
American radio program in the
1930s. Though various incarnations
sometimes change details, in most
incarnations the Green Hornet is
Britt Reid, a newspaper publisher by
day who by night goes out in his
masked "Green Hornet" identity to
fight crime as a vigilante, accompa-
nied by his similarly masked Asian
manservant Kato and driving a car,
equipped with advanced technolo-
gy, called "Black Beauty".

BATTLEFIELDS: DEAR BILLY #3
(Permanent Damage): “Nice that
someone's just letting Ennis write
war comics, without gimmicks or
costumed heroes, since they're
obviously what he has the most
affinity for, digging up unusual
aspects and surprising conclusions.
DEAR BILLY wraps up with a colli-
sion between obsession, love and
pragmatism that dodges any war
movie heroics and instead has its
British nurse heroine, exacting
revenge on Japanese prisoners in
her care in WWII India, realizing
what kind of world will come out of
the conflict. Snejbjerg's art is sever-
al levels better than during his
BOOKS OF MAGIC days, carrying
both story and emotions perfectly;
they're a great team. When Ennis is
writing his over the top humor
stuff, he's good. When he's being
serious, he's great.”
THE BOYS #29
(ComicBookResources): “…the con-
clusion is exactly what you expect
Ennis and Robertson to deliver:
gripping, shocking, and leaving the
reader wanting more. The two con-
tinue to work in perfect sync and
with the series about half over now,
thankfully, there’s still plenty of
“Boys” coming.”

(Scoop): When you put this many
characters in a comic, you know
there’s going to be a fight, and in
this case it’s wrapped a typically
great story from writer Jim
Krueger.”

#1 is a solid first issue, with a story
that is intriguing - as are any stories
that feature Nazi cults and giant

Masquerade #1 is worth reading,
and is worthy of 4.5 out of 5 Stars.”

(ComicsBulletin): “Masquerade
exemplifies how to write a proper
super-hero detective story. Carlos
Paul and Deborah Carita make
Masquerade nee Miss Mask a very
fetching, intelligent looking cos-
tumed gumshoe.”
SUPER ZOMBIES #1
(Best Shots@Newsarama) “The art
is very capably handled by Mel
Rubi, whom regularly Dynamite
readers will know from Red Sonja.
He gets the shiny super-hero stuff
and the gritty parts right in equal
measure.”
BLACK TERROR #3
(ComicsBulletin): “Mike Lilly and
Vinicius Andrade do a superb job.
This is especially true when they
illustrate the complexity of the
Terror's plan and show the teen
partners of the superpowers in
action. In general, they actually live
up to the promise of Ross and
Krueger's intent. They make these
heroes look powerful and valiant.
Rather than also-rans, they look like
the real deal and resonate their
respectable history with each step”
ARMY OF DARKNESS #17
(Major Spoilers): “The best part of
the issue, and the one that will have
greater implications in the next arc,
is the moment when the leader of
the Deadites, attempts to turn Ash
into one of them. I won’t give away
the gory details, but if you’ve read
Rage of the Red Lanterns, you’ll
have a good idea of how Ash gets
some of the bad juju in him.
Fortunately he doesn’t get all of it
in, and he ends up turning into
something not quite human, and
not quite Deadite, so I’m curious as
to how this will play out in the
future.”
AVENGERS/INVADERS #8
(WizardUniverse.com): "It's non-
stop action from beginning to end
in the true mighty Marvel fashion,
as one Avengers squad crashes the
S.H.I.E.L.D. Hellicarrier to rescue
Tony Stark; WWII Cap battles his
