project.
You can choose among one of the
following subjects:
Structural design
Roads and infrastructures design
The class hours may be different for
the subjects.

Normally there are no examination dates.

You are expected to take part in the
reviews of the projects that will be
scheduled during the course

When your supervisor will evaluate that

your work is complete and sufficiently
accurate the CFU for design projects
will be acknowledged

 COURSE CONTENTS

During this project you will learn:

how to design the most common
structural members of RC frames using
EU codes;
how to develop FEM models of RC frame
structures;
basics on seismic actions;
how to develop ’blueprints’ for RC−
elements.

Design of floor slabs
FEM Model.
Structural analysis (Vertical loads + simplified
seismic loads).
Design of some structural members (ULS and SLS):
Beams
Columns
(Stairs)
Foundations

You will work in groups (2−4 people)

Part of the class hours will be used for
lectures and part for reviews
You are expected to take part in the
reviews of the projects that will be
scheduled during the course
Part of the theoretical background for
the course has been given during advanced
design of concrete structures (prof.
Mazzotti)
