unit/page students
Context of the lesson
The lesson is about sustainability, which mainly talks about how can we use the things in our lives continuously and
how can we make it environmental friendly for the people.
Teaching goal.
My teaching goal is to make the students have an idea about sustainability, and how can we help sustainability grow.

Learning objectives

- Students will be able to identify the meaning of sustainability and decomposing.

- Students will be able to differentiate between sustainability and decomposing.
- Students will be able to recognize what are the things can grow sustainability (recycling)
- Students will be able to design a picture about sustainability.

Assumptions about prior learning.

The students may have a background knowledge about sustainability.

Anticipated problems and possible solutions

- Technical problems in using the laptop.
- Solutions: bringing another laptop in case.

Personal focus for this lesson

- Time management in how to give a certain time to each activity.
- Behavior management in how to get the student’s attention.

Target language Teacher language

understandings.
Consider these grouping strategies: Consider where the children are working:
- Pair work
- Individual work - Classroom (on their chairs and desks)
- Group work

Planning Stages Within the 5-E Inquiry Model

Engage
PURPOSE:
● To convey the context of the lesson(s)/unit by conveying an important Key Question
● To engage students in investigations that reveal their thinking to themselves and the teacher.
● To engage their interest.
Key Question: what do you know about sustainability?

Teacher Student
The teacher will show the students pictures of
decomposing things such as pictures of plastic The students will see the pictures and predict the
decomposed. So the teacher will tell the students right vocabulary of each picture. Also the students
that plastics are Unsustainable an we cannot use will watch the video with the teacher and will
them in entire life. After that the teacher will show recognize the meaning of sustainability,
them a short video about sustainability with small decompose and unsustainable.
explanation.

Explore
PURPOSE:
● to test ideas and develop knowledge using explorations, investigations, experiments
● to modify and record ideas as they change due to activities
● to develop new questions and testable hypotheses

that they found.

Student Communication Product:

Students will be discussing and helping each other to find the meaning of sustainability and
decomposing with their pairs.

areas of strength.

The things that were good in the lesson is the engage activity, where i let the students to see a picture and
guess what is it about and doing a research after that to have more information about what did they saw. and
they did a research about sustainability, decomposing and recycling. the other thing that was good in my
lesson is the evaluate activity, where the students were able to draw a picture about the lesson and have a
small paragraph that explains what did they understand from the lesson, and i think this is a good way to let
the students have the chance to be creative in drawing and also to build their skills in writing.

areas of development:

The things that need to be developed is the elaborate activity, where the students had to classify the pictures
to the boxes in the classroom. the point of the activity was that the students will know that recycling helps
and supports the sustainability and at the same time they will know the classification of the recycling and
they will be able to explain what each recycling bin includes and how can people recycle these things. But
because of the time i wasn’t able to let each student to explain, so i did it in a quick way. Also i should be
more creative in the elaborate activity and make the students do more than just classification and explaining.
The things that i need to develop in my next lesson is time management and put on more creativity in the
lesson.
