Sub: - Reminder for implementation of recommendation in Safety Audit Reports on SHs/MDRs

conducted by CRRI, New Delhi

Sir,

With reference to the aforesaid matter under reference, you were shared with the Road
Safety Audit Reports on Six (6) Roads (SHs / MDRs), in which CRRI, New Delhi have completed
their Road Safety Audit and submitted their recommendations vis-à-vis observation at pertinent
locations, in a view to implement them on priority basis. In this context, Divisions were asked to
submit proposal estimate incorporating spot-to-spot recommendations of Safety Audit team of
CRRI, New Delhi. It was also requested to share a copy of such estimate, after duly checking the
same, to the undersigned for according A/A and allotment of funds, if required. It is a matter of
great displeasure that not a single proposal estimate has reached to the undersigned even after a
lapse of 4 months or so, which shows your non serious attitude towards such an important matter
concerning road safety.

You may kindly note that, Department is in an embarrassing situations, as Hon’ble

Supreme Court Committee on Road Safety (CoRS) has expressed their displeasure on increasing
trend of road accidents/ fatalities on road stretches due to non- implementation of adequate safety
measures as per recommendations of safety audit in Odisha State.

Therefore, it is high time to study those recommendations from the reports meticulously
and necessary road safety interventions need to be taken by the concerned field Executive
Engineers of (R&B) Divisions and the same need to be certified by the road safety auditors of the
Circle/ Division(s) and Superintending Engineers of concerned Circle, as a compliance to the
observations of audit recommendations by CRRI, New Delhi.

 In this context, you are directed to take up the matter, pertaining to road stretches
incorporating safety audit recommendations thereon on priority basis. It is also requested to share
a copy of such estimate, after duly checking the same, to the undersigned for according A/A and
allotment of funds, if required, within 20th May 2018.

This must be treated as MOST URGENT.
