Action: On March 15, 2018 our first duty to Operating Room at the cvmc. We were first
oriented and recalled our skills in the O.R by our clinical instructor before handling our first
case. We were divided into two groups in each group there are a scrub nurse and a circulating
nurse. The scrub nurses are the ones who assist the doctor like handling the instrument to them
and are the ones who are sterile on the other hand the circulating nurses are the ones who list
down the instruments that are going to use and are responsible for giving extra instrument that
are needed for the operation but they’re not sterile so they are using a clamp to give it to them or
their bare hands but not touching the sterile part. I have assisted in a case like I.M plating in the
tibia, emergency appendectomy and tracheostomy.

Reflection: During my first rotation stay in the O.R I have learned a lot like the instruments and
their functions, procedures on different cases, different sterile techniques in the O.R and safe
way on handling the instruments especially when giving it to the doctor. While the operation is
going on I also learned that I must focus on the operation and listen carefully to the instruction
or to what the doctor is saying in order to prevent errors. I thank this opportunity to be exposed
in such that to this I gained more knowledge and skills and also a step for me to become a doctor
and I also thank my clinical instructor for supervising me and also sharing what she knows.

Faith: 2 Chronicles 15-7: Be ye strong therefore, and let not your hands be weak: for your work
shall be rewarded.

Action: As a student nurse I know there are many struggles but I also know that these
challenges that I am experiencing right now have a greater reward that what I have experienced
so I should easily give up but instead I should focus on my work on the responsibility that I am
carrying and smile.
