AMI Beats

Third edition; February---April 2018

The academic year 2017-18 is wrapping up to unfold the next one. The last
quarter was also a roller coaster ride through academics and activities.

Projects and Research:

One of the major advantages of project work is that it makes school more
like real life. Students of grade 7 prepared projects on “Energy
Conversion”, “Acid and Alkalis” and “Circuits”. Grade 8 made posters on
“Harmful Effects of Smoking”.
The AMI Junior Section carried out a research in the Senior Section on
Energy Saving Tips. They interviewed students and teachers to analyze the
wastage of energy in different forms at different places. The name of the
project was, Carbon Print.
Students from a Japanese School carried out a research programme and
interviewed Ammar Khalid of grade 9.

Educational Trips:

Grade OI and OII visited the State Bank of Pakistan Museum and Art
Gallery for their educational trip. Shaan Tech (industry of solar panels
and LED lights) was visited by grade 9 students.
Grade 7 and 8 went for educational field trip to National Museum of
Pakistan. The Museum collects, preserves, studies, and exhibits the
records of the cultural history of Indus Civilization artifacts, Gandhara
Civilization Sculptures, Islamic Art, Miniature Paintings, Ancient Coins
and Manuscripts documenting Pakistan's Political History.
Orientations:

Orientation for the parents of grade 7 was conducted to familiarize them


with the Senior Branch and O level system. Another orientation session
was conducted for the parents of grade 9 to brief them about subject
selection in O levels.
An orientation programme by IBA was conducted by AIESEC; the objective was
to acquaint students of OII to identify their talents.
Another orientation programme for grade O II was also carried out by
South Shore School.

Sports:
Being a master of one or a jack-of-all-trades in today’s world does not
bring about success if you are unable to work as part of a team. The
importance of teamwork cannot be stressed enough!
Teams cannot win without team spirit.
Basket Ball matches were held for girls and boys. Falcons beat the Kites
and won the senior Boys match while in team B the Kites grabbed the
first position from the Eagles. Girls were no less!!!!!!The Kites rose
above all.

Presentations:

Public Speaking, Robotics, Art and Craft and Photography Presentations


were organized, parents were invited to look at the students’ work and
appreciate their effort. Art Exhibition was also held on the same day to
portray the Art Work of all the students covered in their syllabi.
Heritage Walk Karachi gave a presentation on the historical buildings of
Karachi. Not only were the building styles explained but their era was
also highlighted. A booklet on Karachi was made to acquaint students
about the historical, geographical and economic importance of Karachi.
The booklet has amazing facts about Karachi starting from Stone Age.
Students of grade 7, in groups compiled booklets of Anthology on their
favourite poems. They were awarded certificates for their effort and
teamwork. Scrabble Competition was organized by Horlicks and held at
BVS School. Participants from The AMI School received certificates.
Crazy Week:

Fun has a positive effect on motivation levels, determining what we learn and
how much we retain.
Crazy Week provided students a chance to exhibit their creativity in different
forms. They thoroughly enjoyed crazy hairstyles, hands and dress.

Graduation Ceremony and Farewell:


Grade O II had their Graduation Ceremony in which they received their
diplomas, Honour Roll shields and cups. Hanniya Ahmed was awarded the title of
Valedictorian of Class 2018.A few parents and O II students also shared their
views about their experience with The AMI School.
Grade O I threw a farewell party and amusing titles were given to the OII
students. Rumail Malik received the title of Lord of the Evening and Maria
Ovais Lady of the Evening. O I compiled a slide show for O II on Memories
.The slide show displayed the pictures of the graduating class of yester years
along with interviews of previous Principals, teachers and domestic staff. A lot
of hard work by the students went in to organize the events. All was
thoroughly enjoyed!!!!!
