OPERATION INSTRUCTrON

I . Summary
1. Explanation:
Model LDTN Pump is a suitable c-0rollru:y equipment for the steam tumogenerators in thermal power station and
nuclear power plant to pump over the c.ondensed water out o f t.l;e coodenser,and can also pump over some other
medium similar to condensed water or slightly polluted liquid,chenrically neutral or corrosibn liquids.It can be
used as engmeering pumps in refineries,chemicai and petrochemical plants and energy plants.
2. Performance Range:
Liquid temperature pumped over is lower fhan 120 'C.
The detailed o f pump pe1formance parameters are shown onperformam.:e table and performance curves of
the pump supplied by the factory.

II. Structural Explanation


Model 300LDTN-200 pump is a multistage vertical barrel condensate pump, with double suction pump shell
and double suction first-stage impeUe .Generally,the impeJler first stage is a low cavitation residue
impeUer,Balance o f axial thrust by antifriction bearings,.in case o f higher cliff pressure axial thrust is compensated
by .a balant",e pistonliner. The can is only subject to suction pressure,the installation depth and the length of the ca.,
depend on NPSH conditions. The bearings in the motor lantern are oil-lubricated anti:friction bearings. Oil cup
keep working oil-ievel automatically. Asliding bearing lubricated by the line liquid is fixed on the side of pump.
The balancing drum and diffuser sleeves at various stages at same time function as supports between stanges.
Shaft is sealed by packed stuffing box or by mechanical seal according to the demands o f customers. Suction and
discharge branches are arranged at 180 ° (in line} above the mounting flange. The pump is directly driven by
motor through a elastic coupling. The pump rotates anti-dockwise looking from the direction of motor. The pump
structures are shown in details on the assembly drawing supplied by the factory. The pump is composed o f three
parts including water suction part working part and water discharge part, the main components include inlet and
oputlet waterpipe frames, pump shell, front ·casing, back casing, middle casing.; diffuser, impeller, first-stage
impeller and pump shaft., etc.

III. Overall Dimension and Installation


l . The mounting dimensions are shovm on the assembly drawing of overall dimension and basic
dimension.
2. Installation
A. Preparations before installation
( I ) Check pmnp and motor fur no damages and no foreign matters inside pump.
( 2 ) Get ready all tools and hoisting machine.
( 3) Check the mow:rting fundation of facilities.
B. Installation sequence (order).
( 1 ) Clean or remove greasy dirt on the b1.1Se and set the base oo proombedded foot bolts.
( 2) Check and adjust the Jevelness of pump base with a level
( 3 ) Fili ilie foot bolt holes and inner chamber of.pump base with cement mortar.
( 4 ) Tighten ilie mrts of foot bolts when the cement mortar is hardened.
( 5 ) Carefully clean ilie supporting plane o f pump base and check its levelness again, and set the pump
unit on the base after cleanin g the assembly fumge bottom of pump.
( 6 ) Check the pump unit fur its verticality or check the pump assembly flange for its levelness, then
tighten fixing nuts.
(7) Connect suction and dischru:ge pipes.
( 8) Fi'l: pressure gauges both on inlet and outlet pipelines and then the balancing drum pressure gauge.
( 9 ) Degassing pipe shall generally be fixed on !he top of condenser oron vacuum pump.

! l Fol lowing points should be considered during the insta! lation o f pipe! ines:
( 1) Pipelines should have their own supporting frames in order to free the weight on to the pump.
( 2 ) The suction pipeline should be completely sealed and tested with a water pressure of 0.2 Mpa. The
pipeline sh.ape should have advantage in avoiding the fonnation of airbag.
( 3) The water flow speed inside the suction pipeline should be equal or less than 20m/sec, and the length
should not be long. Abrupt turning o fpipeline should be avoided
E. Calculation o f pump mounting height:
Condensing pump is generally used to suck the· condensed water from the sealed containers, so, it sh<m1d be
desig n ed jn backward flow and its priming height should be calculated,Otherwise, the pump cavitation may be
caused, normal operation be affected and damages or accidents be occurred i f it is serious due to low priming head.

the purcluise cost.. The unit cavitation. residue value · [!,.'PSH]� mentioned . above is determined by the pump
installation conditions. The calculatioo datum is at.the center of pump suction flange.

N. Starting and stopping


1. Preparations before starting
Fill No,20 engine oil into the bearing house of pump at a place ne!ll'.by the oil cup.The oil level ran always
he maintained oonstant under normal oil supply condition by using this oil cup device.

This kind of oil�level meter operates by the oonsmnt..pr�ure surfu.ce principle caused under .the function of
atmospheric pressure. When . the oil working Jevel drops, the outlet groove of oil cup shall expose to the
atmosphere. At time,air enters 1he inner chamber Qfoil cup through four small holes at oil stop groove and ll
small groove on cup seat, the oil under the function of static pressure in oil cup flows out of cup, the oil level in
the cup drops and oil working Jevel returns to the datum position which just submerges outlet groove of oil cup.
Under this oondition, air t�-an not enter the oil o:µp, a negative pressure, at this time, is created in inner chamber of
oil cup to ofl:set the static pressure in the cup and no more oil flo,w-s out The repeat cycles continues till oil in the
cup :finishes.

This kind of oil-level meter advantages in simple structure, safe and reliable, easy control and maintenance.
"The cup can easily be pulled out upward and inserted into cup seat in agile movements after the cup is filled up. In
addition, the following points should be noted:
*Four qi 2 small holes at the bottom of cup and one small groove on the seat should be free from any

blockage, otherwise, the normal operation shall be affected.
Outer surface of cup should be kept clean to.ensure that the level can been se.en dearly.
-/:( Impacts should be avoided.
( l) Pump should not be operated without water, so, fill up the pump with water before starting.
( 2) Check the rotating direction of motor, the pump should tum anticlockwise seen from driven end. After
connection of motor with water pump, the rotor of pump should be turned by hand smoothly.Attention: The
turning direction of motor must be correct, jf not , the fixing nut on the pump shaft shall loose and cause
accidents.
( 3 >"' Starting shall be performed with the sluice valve on discharge p1peline closed.
2.Starting
( 1 ) With normal speed (RPM) reached, slightly open the sluice valve and check the operations of all
instruments and stuffing box, the idle operation of pump should not be long.
( 2) Check the temperature of bearing and stuffing box, shut it off if it is too high.
( 3) Open the sluice valve to the required position when the operation is normal, then starting is complete.
3. Stopping (shut off)
( 1 ) Gradually dose the sluice valve and cut off the motor power.
( 2) Ifthe pump shall not be used for a longer period, it should be d1ecked oiled and stored carefully.

V. Operation and maintenance


l . During operation, attention should he paid to the readings of pressure gauge and vacuometer, ·bearing
temperature, stuffing discharge condition, oil level of bearing, vibration and noises of water pump.
2. Ma.>rimum temperature of_ bearing should not be more than 75 ·c and its te.mperature rise not exceeds
50"C.
3. Lubricating oil of new pump shall be changed after its operation for l 00 hours, and later on , change it
after a constant worl..-:ing cycle.
4. When the inlet pressure is in the state of high vacuum, the pressure oo the gauge at back side of
' bal.andng dmm shovvs lower and a negative pressure may occur, as a result, the stuffing box shall no longer

discharge water, on contrary, air may be sucked into pump chamber to result in poor performance. The following
method can be used in dealing ·with this problem: Charge some water-sealed water with a certain ·pressure to the
pressure test holes on balancing drum' symmetrical to RI/2 pipe blacking place to increase the back pressure of
balancing dnun.
5. if abnormal cooditiom.. (abrupt vibration) occur, emergency meaqsures should be
causes should be found out and troubles should be removed. The ovserving and results should be
re.corded.
6. Possible troubles and trouble shootings:

2. TASK

The function of gland steam Condenser is to slightly bring the negative pressure
of leakage pipelines for front and rear gland seal of turbine, leakage passes into
a gland steam Condenser through the leakage pipelines and it are condensed into
the water, then it are supplied to the boiler.

3. STRUCTURE AND WORKING MEANS

The gland steam condenser is motor-fan type and its structure refers to Fig1.

The side of heat exchanger water takes on a structure of 1 flow. First cooling
water passes into the water chamber of inlet through an inlet of gland steam
condenser, and then passes into the tube bank. When cooling water is flow in the
heat change pipe, the cooling water exchanges heat with the steam at side of
steam side, cooling water shucks many heat when steam are condensed, water
temperature is increased and passes into the water chamber of outlet, then
cooling water flows off a gland steam condenser via the outlet of cooling water.
The steam from turbine gland seal (front and rear) passes into the inner side of
shell via leakage pipeline and leakage inlet of gland steam condenser. The steam
contacts with the heat exchange pipes in the tube bank and exchange the heat.
When the great mass of steam passes through outer wall of heat exchange pipe,
it releases many heat and to condense into condensate, the condensate are
exhausted from a drain port and into a drain pipeline. Because there is
non-condensing air in the leakage steam, in order to make sure leakage steam
can pass the leakage pipeline, it must be extracted by the motor-fan and to
exhaust to the atmosphere.

4. INSTALLATION

Installation steps:

1. Checking the foundation first and clean the foundation surface then.
2. Arrange the GSVC on the operation plat and adjust the location
3. Checking the connection of every nozzle according the design/piping
arrangement.
4. Fix the ejector (grouting)
5. Piping connection and power supply.

Notice in installation:

1. Equipment should be arranged in the plat location when it reaches the


site.
2. The tight wire should be arranged at the outside of stand and please be
sure the loading is average without any distortion of equipment.
3. Keep the force and moment from the piping to be minimum condition
4. Please consider the displacement of equipment/piping in the installation.
And clean all connection and remove all block before operation.
5. Check the power supply according the technical specification.
6. Cleaning/wash the whole connection system before operation. If
necessary, please arrange the strainer in the piping.
7. All connection surfaces should be flat at all for avoiding the leakage.
8. Leakage test should be carried out before operation for further checking
9. Calibration all the instruments and installation.

5. STARTING AND SHUTDOWN

Notice:

1. Please make sure the steam piping is unblocked, same as the water
piping.
2. Open the cooling water valve (inlet & outlet) first.
3. After the cooling water inside, please open the steam inlet valve.
4. The cooling water pump only can be stopped after the equipments stop.

2. OPERATING FOR SERVICE OF OIL SUPPLY


1. Mounting the service of oil supply

1.1 Net weight of service of oil supply: 21SOOkg, operating weight : 34000kg .

1.2 Mounting refers to diagram of foundation.

1.3 Four lifting eyes are provided on the baseplate of service of oil supply.

1.4 To connect with the pipelines according to system requirements .

1.5 The mounting standard: DL50 11-92 (( Electric power construct and
acceptance technical specifications of turbine»

2. Inspecting before operating

2.1 Flushing

After the working of installation has been finished, entire oil system is
flushed completely and to eliminate all dirt in the pipelines and oil
system . The flushing is done according to GB10 968-89 standard «Flushing
technical specifications of oil system before turbine running)) .

2.2 Filling the oil

2.2.1 The oil tank needs about oil quantity 18.66 m 3 .

2.2.2 When first filling oil, oil level is high than maximum oil level, but
is 150mm less than top of oil tank .(because the oil is filled to the
equipments and pipe in running, thereby oil level may be return to
position between the maximum and minimum)

2.3 Check the service of oil supply

2.3.1 Check a double oil filter for lubrication oil . The other of double oil
filter must ensure free and open an air draining valve of oil filter.

2.3.2 Check a double oil filter for governing oil . The other of double oil
filter must ensure free and open an air draining valve of oil filter.

2.3.3 Check a double oil cooler. The other of double oil cooler must
ensure free and open an air draining valve and an inlet/ outlet
valve of cooling water.

2.3.4 Check oil temperature. Oil temperature shall generally exceeds 30


oc.

2.3.5 The pipelines between the outlets of two main oil pumps and
auxiliary oil pump to the lubricating oil (and governing oil) must
be free.

2.3.6 The pipelines that the outlet of emergency oil pumps to the inlet
of lubricating oil must be free.

2.4 Check the oil pumps

2.4.1 Check the running of oil pumps whether normal operating.

2.4.2 Check the interlocking both oil pumps whether validity.

2.4.2.1 When main and auxiliary oil pumps are stopped because
the failure, an emergency oil pump must start
automatically.

2.5 Adjusting pressure

2.5.1 Adjust the outlet pressure of lubricating oil.

2.5.1.1 Start a auxiliary oil pump (for entire system), observe


the oil (lubricating oil and governing oil) flow conditions
through peep windows. When liquids are fully oils, close
the air draining valves on three exhaust pipelines.

2.5.1.2 Adjust the throttle valve of outlet of main oil pump;


adjust the throttle valve between a oil filter of
lubricating oil and a oil cooler, and adjust the throttle
valve at the front of lubricating oil inlet. Outlet
pressure of governing oil: 0.8MPa, outlet pressure of
lubricating oil: 0.25MPa.

2.5.2 After adjusting, lock the throttle valve.

3. OPERATING FOR SERVICE OF OIL SUPPLY

3.1 Start a main oil pump according to the operating manual of turbine
starting.

3.2 After turbine is normal run, the service of oil supply provides the
lubricating oil for turbine safety run.

3.3 The temperature of governing oil is not generally limited. Pressure of


governing oil: 0.85MPa.

3.4 The temperature of lubricating oil: 45 _2 °C

3.5 Under the cooling water flow are not decreased, if temperature of
flowed off oil exceeds 48 °C, the oil cooler has been dirt. To use standby
oil cooler and overhaul oil cooler.

3.6 The pressure of lubricating oil: 0.08-0.25MPa (g).

3.7 A preliminary pressure loss is 0.03MPa. If preliminary pressure loss


exceeds 0.08MPa, double oil filter has been dirt. Here a standby oil filter
is used, check and clean the tainted oil filter.

3.8 Inspect the oil quality in the oil tank periodically. If impurity content
(moisture) are exceed to standard, oil in the oil tank shall purge. When
phy sical property of oil is worse, oil should be changed.

3.9 The reasons of oil pressure deviation for main oil pipe of lubricating oil:

Adjusting of throttle device has not calibration or clipped.


Throttle device is adjusted in time.

The oil filter is dirt. Change the device in time.

Oil pumps and pipelines is failure, to eliminate the failures.

Clearances of bearing is increased and flow of oil passage is


excessive, adjust the clearance and oil flow in time.

4. MAINTENANCE FOR SERVICE OF OIL SUPPLY

4.1 Check the service of oil supply periodically (one checking is general per
annum).
4.2 Before the service of oil supply is operated, check the oil pumps, double
oil cooler, double oil filter, check each assemblies, valves, electric and
interlocking devices, check each setting values, check oil level of oil
tank etc.
4.3 If the service of oil supply is reassembled, mounting work is done
according to the DL5011-92 ((Electric power construct and acceptance
technical specifications of turbine» . At the time, whether flushing is
done according to actual circumstances. If needs a flushing, flushing
processes must be done according to GB10968-89 standard «Flushing
technical specifications of oil system before turbine running)) .

CONSTRUCTION:
The construction IY oil pump are divided into:sigfo-stage and single-suction, double-stage aild
single··suction overhung,see drawing land drawing 2.111e position of suction is arranged
horizontally,the position of discharge port is verticaily up.Main part of pump has casing,cover,
impeller,shaft�frame and c-0upling etc.The bearing housing si.1pports the -rotor parts.The rolling
bearings hear axial and radial forces.111e-bea:ring are lubricated with thin oil. The stuffing boxes and
cover are cast together which can be instaHed with mechanical sealing and softpacking sealing.In tl1e
region of shaft seal the pump shaft is protected with renewable shaft sleeve.
The pumps are directly driven by the motor through the flexible coupling.The rotating direction
of the prnnps are clock'Wise,wl1en viewed pump from the diven end.
THE l\fAJOR PART 1\1ATERIALNATURE OF PlJl\iP:
1.Kinds-impeHer,shaft seeve,pump body and pump cover fur gray cast iron;the pump axle _is
high-quality steel.
2.Kinds-impeller, pump body and pump cover for cast iron; shaft seeve and the pump axle are
high-quality steel.
INSTALLATION:
It is impmtant for operntoin and life-span of the pump than whether the installation the pump
is good.

( 1) Clean greasy and filth on b-aseplate,mount the baseplate on foundation.
(2) · Check level of the baseplat1;,ob!igue iron may be used to seek the level.
(3) Pour concrete into the foundation.
(4) Check the concreted foundation,tightenfoundation bolt,recheck the level of the baseplate.
(5) Clean supporting smface of the baseplateJoot surface of the pump and the motor,assemble
the pump and the motor on the baseplate.
(6) Keep certain clearance between coup1es,generaUy 2mm.Inspect whether the tcentrelines of
the pump shaft arid the motor sh.aft is in a same line. Thin ivasher may" be used to seek the centricity.
Measure the top,bottom,Ieft and f4,"I1t surface of the assembied couples ,the diffe rence between
the two couple surfaces should not_ exceed O.hmn,the difference of the 1\.fax.and Min.clearences
between the two ends of couples in a circumference should not exceed 0.3mm.

2.Notice
(1) Pump mounting lleight,pipe length,diameter and flow velocity should fit the condito11.
(2) In 9ase long delivery,bigger diameter pipe should be taken.
(3) If a back check valve is mounted to disd1arge pipe,it should outside ofsluise.
OPERATION AND 1\1.A.INTENANCE:
I .Check to see if the direction of rotation is correct.
2.Before starting,pour liquid intothe chamber and suction pipe.The stored air and leakage air in
suction pipe are not allowed.
3 .Keep oil level within the number of oil gage.Pump having first worked for 100 hours,the
lubrication. oil in pump should be changed.Afterwards deaning and oil-changing should be:
proceeded once per 40(}0 houre.
4: The tempe:rctture in beari11.g must not rise over 70 C.

5.If abnormal so nd is heard during operating,stop 11IIl11ing to chee:k.

6.If the enviromnental temperature is below O"C,Iet the liquid .out of .pmnp after you stop
running.

GENERAL
Type. YL pump is a vertical single-grade. centrifugal oil pump. It is used to deliver the

turbine oil which the temperature is 0 C-80- C.Provide the steam turbine and assists mechanical
oil forcing lubricious the-usefulness of the-hydraulic pressure:

STRUCTURE

The pump is formed by pump body,. pump cover (absorbing into the brass-wind
instruments.) bearing fraITI.ey pump axle and impeller� Llnkingthe verticality electrical machine
by the dti11 and stereotyped flange, pump axle and e1ectrica1 machine axle is with the connection
transmission of flexibility shaft by claw coupling. The discharge was installed on th.e dull and
stereotyped flange. Whole pump can be perpendicular installed convenient on the oil tank of

pump always to install the picture; The-rotation direction of pump: Looking from the-electrical
machine direction, the pumps 50YL-100 and 65YL-100 are counter clockwise, Other pumps are
clockwise.
There are two kinds of bearings of type to the pump axle upper outer garment: the bearing
1 is for the short cylmder roller bearing of Dan Lie; Tbe bearing 2 is 2 Dan Lie ball thrust
hearings.

INSTALLATION AND OPERATION

5. In order to prevent the impurity coming into the pump, the filter net was installed on the
pump suction. But it should be checked up periodical to prevent stoppage.

also can separate off the water and air as well as to eliminate the foam
and deposit the impurity.

3. OIL TANK STRUCTURE

1. An oil tank is seal and can prevent the water and dust into.

2. The bottom of oil tank is gradient; to ensure the draining fully, there is a
drain port at the lowest point.

3. For maintenance the inner of oil tank, a man hole is provided on the top
of oil tank.

4. The filter gauze is mounted on the return oil port so that to ensure the
cleanliness of oil tank inner.

5. A remote level indicator meter is provided on the oil tank. The remote
level indicator meter has an alarm (high and low level) device.

6. An oil choker with the filtering cover is provided to eliminate the oil
spray in the oil tank.

7. Two isolate plates are provided in the inner of oil tank; it can fully
eliminate the foam and deposited impurity.

8. The joint of oil purifier is provided on the top of oil tank (upper is inlet
and lo w is outlet).

9. The oil tank has an exhaust fan.

10. At the man hole, a ladder is mounted in the inner of oil tank so that
maintenance personnel are easy to access.

11. A filter gauze for fill the oil is mounted on the top of oil tank.

4. OPERATING AND MAINTENANCE

1. Before filling the oil to oil tank, inner of oil tank should be clean. If the
foreign material is found in the inner of oil tank, it is cleaned.

2. The oil (lubricating oil and governing oil) used must be met specified
grade.

3. The oil quantity of oil tank is determined according to the dimension of


oil tank and filling oil requirements of equipments.

When first filling oil, oil quantity is high than the highest level, but it is
150mm less than the face plate of oil tank. Actual data and length of
connecting oil pipe on site is considered.

When the steam turbine is operated, the waste of oil in the oil system is
much small. Only if the oil level is lower than the lowest oil level to fill
oil. But oil quantity is not much too so that to prevent oil overflow to the
oil tank when turbine is shut.

4. If wave of oil level is large (wind pressure of exhaust fan may has
problem), position of filter gauze cover should be adjusted and to
achieve the pressure balance.

Check the oil quality in the oil tank periodically through a draining port.
If impurity content (moisture) are exceed to standard, oil in the oil tank
shall purge. When physical property of oil is worse, oil should be
changed.

The information of oil quality:

• If there are grains of babbit metal in the oil, to indicate that


bearings in the system are damaged.

• If there are steel grains in the oil, to indicate that metal surface
of movement parts are hit.

• If there is water in the oil, to indicate that oil cooler is leakage or


gland seal is leakage.
