Advanced primary treatment

Advanced Primary Treatment
CHALLENGE

To provide wastewater treatment for all countries and

regions.

Operational efficiency was followed as the most important

factor in the wastewater treatment process, because most
of the low-income countries and regions are able to
implement such process due to high investment and
operational costs.

process which is compromise between operational
efficiency and investment/operational costs.

IDEA

Reduce pollution as much as possible, right now!

Many governments and cities all around the world have the best intentions regarding the
implementation of the wastewater treatment facilities, but the current economical situation in
some countries does not give space to realize such projects. State of the art processes are
immensely costly for the low-income countries, thus hardly acceptable.
KROFTA has developed a process based on its own technology which gives excellent
wastewater treatment performance for minimum investment and operational costs.

PROCESS

What is Advanced Primary Treatment?

Advanced primary treatment is a wastewater treatment process developed by

our engineers. Using Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) technology our plants
successfully remove primary pollutants from the wastewater. By adding the
appropriate chemicals the treatment process is improved and brought almost to
the level of conventional treatment plants.
The process comprises:

Screening - removal and compacting of solid waste from the wastewater

Sand trap - removal of sand from WW
Homogenization - homogenization of the WW including mixing/aeration
Coagulation / flocculation - chemical conditioning of the WW
Flotation - removal of TSS, O&G, COD and phosphorus
Disinfection - removal, deactivation or killing of pathogenic microorganisms
Sludge treatment - sludge treatment (dewatering or anaerobic treatment)

The process can be very easily extended to the secondary treatment stage for
complete removal of nutrients, with significantly smaller design size and
operating costs for biology.

FEATURES

Standard or tailor made solutions.

The main component of the KROFTA’s Advanced Primary

Treatment plant is the flotation unit, thus plant size is related
to the capacity of the DAF unit.
Capacity of the plants are from 10 m3/h until 2700 m3/h,
considering that up to 50 m3/h DAF units can be delivered as
SKID version.

TYPE OF THE DAF

Most compact DAF clarifier.

KROFTA Supercell is the most compact Dissolved Air

Flotation (DAF) clarifier available and requires minimum
amount of space for installation. Its operational low weighted
load of only 732 kg/m2 makes it ideal for installation in tight
places or on the roof of existing buildings. Unique DAF
clarifier based on ZERO VELOCITY principle.

Standardized modules APT 6, APT 12, APT 20 and ATP 30 are suitable for nominal flows 10 m /h, 50 m /h, 150 m /h and
3
300m /h respectively. For other flow rates KROFTA ensures customization to meet client’s requirement ensuring same
performance.
