Professional Goal
I will implement literacy
strategies into lesson plans
and will create an online
portfolio of curriculum
resources, lesson plans, and
assessment tools that can be
used to help build a course
curriculum for 7th grade ELA.

Why the goal is important to
me
My current role as a seventh
grade English teacher
includes creating a
curriculum based on NVACS
standards that is also
engaging for students.
Creating an online portfolio
of lesson plans and literacy
resources will help to develop
a comprehensive curriculum
that allows students to attain
personal educational goals.
How will I document/provide
evidence that I am working
on this goal
I will create 5 lesson plans
that include literacy strategies
that will increase reading
fluency and help students to
achieve mastery of ELA
NVACS standards. These
lessons will focus on using
vocabulary, close reading
strategies, citing evidence, and
other strategies that will help
students to comprehend a text.
I will research topics that are
relevant to my students and
will incorporate associated
texts in order to pique student
interest in the lessons. I will
also research literacy
resources that can be utilized
in the classroom to achieve
student success.
