and youth in the Škofja Loka area in Slovenia, by incorporating 6 international volunteers
from 6 different countries into their everyday work for the period between August 2018
and July 2019. Four volunteers from Great Britain, Romania, Greece and France are al-
ready chosen, but oportunities for 2 (male) volunteers are still open.

The second volunteer will be involved
in the program activities of the Day-
care Center for Children and Youth
Škrlovec in Kranj. It is a social preven-
tion program, which operates within
the Centre for Social Work Kranj and
provides psychosocial support to
children, adolescents, young people
and their parents who face different
problems in their lives and as such
need professional support and help.
The program is realized by two full-
time professional staff and by about
20 volunteers who are involved in the
activities according to their own de-
sires, wishes, knowledge and needs.
The target population of Škrlovec
are children, adolescents and young
people between 10 and 20 years
of age who face difficulties growing
up and who are deprived of normal
family life.

Each volunteer will have a work co-
ordinator who will follow the volun-

be responsible for the preparation of
the YouthPass that will be created by
each volunteer.
We will also provide volunteers with
washing, laundry and social facilities.
Volunteers will cook by themselves,
but a monthly food allowance will be
provided (180 €). They will also be en-
titled to receive a monthly allowance
of 91,35 €. Each volunteer will be pro-
vided with a bike, as well as tickets for
public transportation if needed.

Škofja Loka lies at the confluence of
the Selška and Poljanska Sora Rivers in
the Škofja Loka hills. It is 25 km from
Ljubljana, 40 km from Lake Bled and
the Alps and 100 km from the Slove-
nian coast.
Škofja Loka is a regional center with
all the infrastructure that comes with
it. We have a library, a post office,
banks, numerous restaurants, pubs,
four sports halls and other recreation-
al facilities (tennis, squash, bowling,
table tennis), a cinema hall, a the-
ater and many different clubs (airsoft,
paintball, shooting club, beekeepers,
climbing, mountaineering society,
animal welfare society, yoga, dance,
folklore ...), all of which are activities
in which volunteers can participate.
Language should not be an obstacle
because everyone speaks English
well.
The volunteers will have many oppor-
tunities to socialize with local youth
in the framework of projects as well
as in leisure time. The hinterland of
Škofja Loka has many possibilities
for activities in nature, which also
includes various forms of recreation
such as hiking, running and cycling. In
summer, swimming in the Sora river
is possible.
The volunteers also have a stimulating
effect on the Škofja Loka living envi-
ronment. The city is just big enough
that young people are personally fa-
miliar with each other, but it is also an
environment that enables individuals

the city itself has an extensive green
hinterland, which gives the individu-

additional opportunities for leisure
activities.
Due to its central European location,
Slovenia also makes it easy to visit
nearby European cities. Budapest is
480 km from Škofja Loka, Venice 250
km, Vienna 350 km, Zagreb 170 km,
Salzburg 260 km, Munich 400 km and
Belgrade 550 km.
Volunteer profile
Candidates should be motivated, flex-
ible, patient, creative, open-minded,
communicative and interested in
working with children and/or ado-
lescents, and they should be able to
speak English. Past experience in ped-
agogy, psychology and youth leisure
is welcomed. Ability in music, sport,
