The Trainwreck that goes through my mind

My mind is filled with all these ideas but I can’t figure out which one is the best. I

write out my ideas on a list and can never decide to use this one or that one. I start to

get aggravated and won’t know what to do. I’ll sit for a while, maybe get a snack or Commented [1]: Keep verb tense consistent.

then i’ll tell myself that I can do this and get to work. I get all my ideas that i think are the

best and put them into my outline and fixed everything as I go.

I get to work on my introduction and my thought is you always have to have a

good hook for it to be good. Once I get to finishing my introduction, I continue to my first

body paragraph and this is when everything becomes a hectic. When I think i’m getting

it going, I get a couple sentences down and then I become lost, tTrying to figure out

what to put next. When I think i'm sitting there for just a couple minutes lost, I was

actually sitting there for over an hour. I’ll get up and pace around the room because this

is the second time I have gotten lost on what to do and I just get disappointed because

i’m struggling so bad with the just the first body paragraph and imagining how bad i'll

struggle with the other two body paragraphs. Time flying by I would finally come to a

finish with my outline after hours of work.

Then I get to the computer and get ready to type. Get halfway done typing this

paper that I think is going to be good and i'll reread every sentence for grammar
mistakes and after rereading these sentences the thought comes to my head I wonder if

what i just put down that I thought was good is actually even good enough. I’m a type of

person that always wants it to be the best paper I have ever written and will be framed

up after I get it back. Then all I will see is the cursor going backwards destroying

everything I typed out. I try not to lose hope in myself but every time i think of something

to type I end up having to shoot it back down. i’ll decide that I just have to go with my

gut with everything I type out for this essay as time is getting shorter and shorter till the

essay is due. I’ll end up rushing everything and slapping it all together so I will just have Commented [3]: Usually, the gut is the best thing to go

something to turn in. The worst thing is knowing that I could have probably done better

on that essay if i didn’t second guess everything that I do. I’ll start to worry about the

grade i’ll get and will stress over it for the longest time because I know how a bad grade

can hurt my future. I won’t stop worrying about it until i know what i got and it usual

comes back as a good grade then i'll begin stressing over the next essay

In the end, I try to be organized as much as possible but I never fail at making it

as difficult as possible. A good comparison to my writing process is like a basketball

team. I will catch fire on knowing what I should type like a player does when he catches

fire on the floor. You never stay hot the whole time though and things won’t go the way

you want it but it will come back to you eventually to where you will be doing everything

right again. I probably make it to hard on myself but I wouldn’t be human if i didn't want

to make it the best and it shows that i’m trying my best to succeed. Everything that I do

that makes it difficult for me, I know I will improve on throughout my life. As you’re

reading this essay, don't think i didn't stress over this essay, if it involves making an
outline then typing out paragraphs, I will definitely most likely always be stressing over it

throughout the whole process because I am a trainwreck when it comes to essays.

Aww, Tanner! I just wanted to give you a hug the whole time I
read this. I'm sorry writing fills you with so much stress and
anxiety. I get anxious when I have to write, too. So, I wish I
could say it would go away, but it hasn't for me. At times, you
can be too tired to care about the anxiety, but it's still
there. You did a great job describing to me what it is like for
you when you write. I feel like I have a better understanding of
you and your process. There were some punctuation,
capitalization, and grammar issues throughout the essay that
you'll want to watch out for in your later essays. Particularly,
there were times where you shifted from verb tense from past,
present, and future. Pick one and be consistent throughout. This
is a common error for students when writing a narrative-type
assignment. I even struggle with this myself sometimes.
Something to think about when you proofread. I look forward to
seeing how your writing progresses throughout the semester and I
hope I can get you to a point where you feel more comfortable
going into college. :)
