Overall aim and context of the lesson:

The math lesson included the meaning of equal sets, it helps students to compare and identify equal sets
and know the meaning of equal, to understand that there is more than one way to make the sets be equal.
Furthermore my lesson included three differentiate activities and all of them had the same context and the
same purpose which is identifying equal sets. I had two overall aims while teaching this lesson and they
are: letting the students identify what does equal sets mean and to demonstrate and manag e the behavior of
the students.

SWC Lesson Reflection

Select (S):
The lesson I taught was about equal sets, it means that each group have the exact same objects, it can be in
different order but they’re still the same. During the lesson I was addressing three standards the low,
medium and the high students, each one of the activity was different in the way they’re demonstrated,
however they had the same purpose. The [LA] students had to match the equal sets together and they gets
smaller numbers, all of them did well but at first when I explained it I had to do it once again for each
student and I had to show each one of them an example of how it’s going to be, and I liked that for the SEN
student I was busy with the class so his classmate was helping him to solve the worksheet, I’m very proud
that she did that. For the [MA] students they get a worksheet with two sides the left side will include bigger
numbers and the right side will include two options with objects includes the students will have to choose
the right answer from the right side, the students was able to understand and work on thei r own. Lastly for
the [HA] students they had a similar worksheet as the [MA] students put on the left side they had to count
the objects instead of having the numbers written for them, the students did great but few students needed
more explanation of what should they do.

Describe (D):
The lesson toke place in Al Alfiah Filipino Private School [AFPS] on the 18 th of February, it was prepared
for Kg 2 students who’s 4-6 years old and was made to fit the MST others lesson depending on my
observations of her teaching the math lesson. I was focused more on the idea of understanding the meaning
of equal sets where I had a lot of examples at the beginning of the lesson, after I saw that the students were
getting the idea of the lesson I tried to make them understand that we can make sets equal not just by adding
amount of objects to one group to fit the other group and to be equal t o it, but also by taking off a specific
number of objects from one group can make the two sets equal, few students was able to understand that
and I gave more example to assess their understanding of that idea by asking them to take of not to add
objects/ numbers.
Analyze (A):
Students was behaved well enough (better than the other classes) and I think they were like that because
the lesson included few activities on the smart board which they love to use it and using the bell to get their
attention did work for some, but some others came to the front to play with the bell . Some students did see
me different from their teachers but none of them disrespect me, which is good, When MST was giving me
feedback she also said that they’re still young and the y still see you different, but the classroom management
and the lesson was good. Students was able to understand the meaning of sets, because their previous math
lesson was about sets. The lesson was simple and easy for the students to understand, some stu dents
developed more understanding than the others on how to make equal sets with different ways other than
adding. From MST and my perspective students was well engaged, since they got the chance to move and
work on the smartboard by turns. The activities was suitable for the students. Moreover, I needed to have
extra activities for those who finished early. Also the students were engaged on the beginning of the
classroom when I asked them to stand up and I played “Hello song for kg” and asked them to danc e with
the song and it was fun for them.

Appraise (A):
Students was most engaged at the beginning of the lesson, but during the smartboard activities some
students didn’t get the chance to do that activity, which made them lose attention and talk to their friends,
Later on I told them to put their hands up, to show me their eyes, nose, etc. to get their attention and I asked
them to behave and to lesson to the teacher. I did meet my teaching goals, students was able to understand
the meaning of equal sets and they also had a lot of practice under that subject using the smart board,
worksheets, and the book. Students was able to answer my questions and they were also able to compare to
sets.

Transform (T):
In the future I would like to give all the students chance to participate in all kind of activities, I might also
have a basket with all the students name and each time I will pick a name from the basket to choose who’s
going to answer and to be fair. I would have two more extra activities for those who finish early. I would
like to grow professionally on using my teacher voice in English, because I think my voice is louder in
Arabic and when I taught in Arabic in government schools , MSTs didn’t ask me to louder my voice. I would
like to have a well behaved classroom and a quiet one as possible for children, so I need to find more
strategies to manage doing that.
