RESUMEN
ABSTRACT
In this paper, the first ideas for the development of a hazard and operability analysis
(HAZOP) in the boiling house of a sugar mill, as support for process management, are
presented. This study is done to prepare technical staff and operators to face perturba-
tions that affect the defined operation schedule during operation.
The analysis have been done over general nodes in the area, being useful for supporting
decision making by the process manager. The defined nodes are syrup vessel, vacuum
pans and centrifuges; and the analyzed deviations are those which can produce delays
in process operations schedule. Causes and consequences of these deviations are analy-
zed and actions for solving them are recommended.
