(ESSAY SAMPLE)

INTRODUCCIÓN: Media refers to any means of communication. Strictly speaking,

‘media’ is actually the plural form: the singular is ‘medium’. The word ‘medium’
comes from the Latin for ‘a means’ or ‘a method’. According to Danesi (2014)Media
refers to "the various forms, devices, and systems that make up mass
communications considered as a whole, including newspapers, magazines, radio
stations, television channels, and Web sites." The most common forms of media
today are radio, internet, newspaper and television. Media is an important part of
our lives. It is also two-sided meaning that it has a positive side and a negative
one. This essay tried to show the disadvantages of main media: the radio, internet,
newspaper and television.

In the modern twenty-first century, half has played an irreplaceable role of people's
daily life. Among many kinds of mass media like TV, newspaper, the Radio and
Internet stands out to be one of the most important. They serve to inform people of
different events that take place or may happen. Also they entertain people or even
help to make their life better. But what are the advantages and disadvantages of
mass media and how mass media affects the human life?.

On the Internet Some of them are viruses, personal information, theft and accuracy
(Dewing, 2010). When a person searches for things on the Internet or online, they
can ask for your personal information, such as social security number, name and
address or credit card number. When you enter such information, it offers an
opportunity for hackers to acquire information about the person and use it for their
own benefits. In addition, anyone can post something on the Internet, which makes
it difficult for some people to recognize reliable sources.

Also, in the RADIO: many people listen to the FM, they put headphones, they listen
to it, they drive. He has problems in the ears, as well as the use of headphones
while driving is also an important reasonof the disadvantages of the media.

some newspapers manipulate the information in some cases, furthermore in some

cases people break their familiar bows break the communication bows and people
put in risk the familiar union, the statistics show us that 80% of young people pass
approximately 6 hours in the computer or listen music in their iPods As the result
young people forget the familiar events, the familiar dialog because the electronic
devices occupy all of their time because t forget the exterior world.

Because of the violent news in the tv such as killings and bombings , we may
develop an inflated sense of danger , the content that contains the sex or the
violence can cause a belief that such behavior is the normal and acceptable .
Watch the television program for long hours definitely affect your eyesight. Some
people especially the kids sitting very close to the TV and watch programs. That is
not good for their eyesight.Likewise, women addicted to dramas and reality shows.
Some women never think about anything when their favorite program is on the TV.
So how they can find time to spend with her husband or kids.During leisure time,
people get enough time to read books or do other acts of recreation. However,
people are more interested in watching television than reading books.

In conclusion, it is good for people to acknowledge both the advantages and

disadvantages of media because they can aid take the essential steps to enjoy the
media and be on the safe side of the negative impacts of the media. If people
acknowledge what is happening within the media, they get a clear view of what to
anticipate and whether or not it is something that would want or would do without
it.media has become part of the peoples lives. People’s cannot escape from the
disadvantages of the media as long they continue using it without a clear view
about it. It is all about the direction an individual select and on how to go about it.
Nevertheless, media plays a significant role in the society as well as all over the

world, and with the increasing growth of technology, it is likely that media grow
with it. Thus, it is good to consider the advantages and disadvantages of media
since its activities will probably increase in future.

Finally in my opinion I believe that the mass media is important for individual and
social development nevertheless each person should make an appropriate use
about the information that receive and about electronic devices that take part.
