Introduction
The 18 Cell Holder consists of two rows of nine staggered cell holders, enabling you
to perform multicell measurements for up to 18 cuvettes.

A circulating water bath, such as the PCB-150 (part number 79 100296 00), may be
used to maintain the temperature of the cells. You may also mount the optional
Temperature Probe accessory (part number 00 100408 00) on top of the 18 Cell
Holder. The two temperature probes can then be inserted in selected cuvettes to allow
direct monitoring of the temperature inside the cuvette. When not in use these probes
can be 'parked' in the channels alongside the front cells.

The 18 Cell Holder requires either the Accessory Cable kit (to connect it to the Cary
50) or, if you are using the 18 Cell Holder in a Dissolution system, the Dissolution
Accessory Cable kit (to connect it to the Cary 50 and the peristalic pump).

Before using this accessory, you must read the Safety Practices and Hazards section in
your Cary operation manual.

If the equipment is used in a manner not specified by the manufacturer, the protection
provided by the equipment may be impaired.

Refer to Spare parts for ordering information.

To install the 18 Cell Holder:

1. Remove the sample compartment front panel and lid from the instrument (if
fitted).

2. Clear the sample compartment of any sample holders.

3. Install the appropriate accessory cable in the sample compartment according to its
instructions (see Accessory Cable kit or Dissolution Accessory Cable kit).

4. Place the 18 Cell Holder in the sample compartment, aligning the locating holes
over the mounting pins in the floor of the sample compartment.

powered i.e. plugged into the accessory cable.

The 18 Cell Holder is now installed and ready for use.

You should now install the Extended Sample Compartment.

Using the Temperature Probe

Refer to the Temperature Probe accessory instructions for details on fitting and using
the temperature probe with the 18 Cell Holder.

Maintenance
The outside of the 18 Cell Holder should be kept clean by wiping with a dampened
(with either water or alcohol) soft cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaning agents. If the
inside of the cuvette positions require cleaning, wrap a dampened soft cloth around a
metal rod or spatula and gently wipe the inside surfaces.

Also ensure that the printed circuit board is kept dry and free from dust.
