Objectives :

To study about electrical equipment.

To know about the functions and usages of electrical tools.

Pliers:

A Plier like tool designed for cutting wires is often called diagonal pliers.
Some pliers for electrical work are fitted with wire cutter blades either
built into the jaws or on the handles just below the pivot. There are
various kinds of pliers like Slip joint, Diagonal, Lineman’s, Needle-nose,
Bent nose, crimping, crimptool, Round-nose and etc.

Screwdriver :

A screwdriver is a tool, manual or powered, for screwing and un screwing

screws. A typical simple screwdrivers has a handle and a shaft, ending in a tip the user puts
into the screw head before turning the handle.
A flat-head screwdriver is a screwdriver with a wedge-
shaped flat tip, used to tighten or loosen screws that
have a straight, linear notch in their heads. This is
arguably the most common tool on the planet-the
ubiquitous flat head screwdriver. While it comes in
many shapes, the concept is always constant. There
will be some sort of handle attached to a steel shaft
that is flattened into a wedge shape at the tip.
Torx developed in 1967 by Camcar Textron, is a
trademark for a type of screw head characterized by
a 6-point star shaped pattern. A popular generic name
for the drive is star, as in star screwdriver or star bits.
Jewelry Set :

A Jewelers screwdriver is a very

small screwdriver, sometimes called
a precision screwdriver, and
includes other fine work tools such
as eyeglass screwdrivers. These are
more useful for fine work, such as
electronics, eyeglass, watches and
jewelry.

Line Tester :

A Line Tester, test light, test lamp, voltage tester or

mains tester is a piece of electronic test equipment
used to determine the presence of electrically in a
piece of environment under test. A Line Tester is
simpler and less costly than a measuring
instrument such as a multimeter, and often suffices
for checking for the presence of voltage on a
conductor. Properly designed test lights include
features to protect the user from accidental
electrical shock. Non-contact line tester can detect
voltage on insulated conductors.

Wire Stripper :

A wire stripper is a portable handheld

tool used by workers, especially
electricians for removing the
protective coating of an electric wire
in order to replace or repair the wire.
It is also capable of stripping the end
portions of an electric wire in order to
connect them to other considered an
important tool for professional
electricians and other related
personnel.
File Tool Set :

An electric file (formerly called a &’drill') is

tool used by nail technicians to speed up,
streamline, or make easier some nail
services; the electric file allows nail
technicians to file or finish areas of the nail
that are hard to reach (for example, under
the free edge of a newly created sculpted
nail); the preferred term for a nail drill.
Electric files can enhance the nail tech’s filing
methods by allowing her to shape nails
faster, do more proficient backfills, and
refine the cuticle area with precision. Electric
files used by technicians who have been properly trained are safe. An electric file to refine
artificial acrylic, gel toenail services, and callus refinement during pedicures.

Drill Bit :

Drill bits are cutting tools used to remove material to create

holes, almost always of circular cross-section. Drill bits come
in many sizes and shapes and can create different kinds of
holes in many different materials. In order to create holes
drill bits are usually attached to a drill, which powers them
to cut through the workspace, typically by rotation. The drill
will grasp the upper end of a bit called the shank in the
chuck.

Soldering Iron :

A soldering iron is a hand tool used in soldering. It

supplies heat to melt solder so that it can flow into
the joint between two workspace.
A soldering iron is composed of a heated metal tip
and an insulated handle. Heating is often achieved
electrically, by passing an electric current (supplied
through an electrical cord or battery cables)
through a resistive heating element. Cordless irons
can be heated by combustion of gas stored in a
small tank, often using a catalytic heater rather
than a flame. Simple irons less commonly used
today than in the past were simply a large copper
bit on a handle, heated in a flame.
Disolrdering Gun :

A deslodering pump, colloquially

known as a solder sucker, is a
manually operated device which
is used to remove solder from a
printed circuit board. There are
two types :
i) Plunger Style
ii) Bulb Style

Hot Gun :

A heat gun is a device used to emit a stream of hot

air, usually at temperatures between 100 °C and 550
°C (200-1000 °F), with some hotter models running
around 760 °C (1400 °F), which can be held by hand.
Heat guns usually have the form of an elongated
body pointing at what is to be heated, with a handle
fixed to it at right angles and a trigger, in the same
general layout as a handgun, hence the name.

Nut Set :

A nut is a type of fastener with a threaded hole. Nuts are almost always used in conjunction
with a mating bolt to fasten multiple parts together. The two partners are kept together by a
combination of their threads friction (with slight elastic deformation), a slight stretching of
the bolt, and compression of the parts to be held together.
In applications where vibration or rotation
may work a nut loose, various locking
mechanisms may be employed: lock washers,
jam nuts, specialist adhesive thread-locking
fluid such as Loctite, safety pins (split pins) or
lockwire in conjunction with castellated nuts,
nylon inserts (nyloc nut), or slightly oval-
shaped threads.
Connecting Rail :

A Pin Header (often abbreviated as PH, or

simply header) is a form electrical connector or
connecting rail. It consists of one or more rows
of male pins typically spaced 2.54 mm( 0.1inch)
apart, but common sizes also include 5.08mm
(0.2 inch), 5.00mm (0.197 inch), 2.00mm (0.079
inch), 1.27mm (0.05 inch) and 1.00mm (0.04
inch). The distance between pins is commonly
referred as pitch in the electronic community.
In the past a connecting rail was known as Berg
connector, but the term fell out of favor
because pin headers are manufactured by many
companies.

Pin header connectors are thus ‘male’

connectors (‘female’ counterparts do exists, but these are normally just called female header
(FH) or heard connector, without pin) and are mostly used inside equipment, rather than
being used connector on the outside of the device

Cable Clip :

A cable clip is a device that manages wires and

cables and secures them to a fixed point on a
surface, like a wall, celling or floor, A wide range of
cable clips is available to control cables of sizes and
shapes, in almost any number, in both home and
industrial applications.
Gnerally, a cable clip contains two important
components: one mechanism for gathering cable
together securely, and another provision for
holding the entire cable clip (along with the
gathered cables) fast against a single spot on a
surface so that the entire bundle stays in place.
Some manufactures design products so that these
two mechanism come separately, although combining them provides better utility and
number of advantage.
Junior Hacksaw :

A junior hacksaw (also referred to as a mini

hacksaw) is basically a smaller version of a regular
hacksaw. Junior hacksaw are commonly used for
cutting through metal pipes or plastic tubing. The
blade of a junior hacksaw is much smaller than a
regular one, so the tool can be used for more precise
cutting or for applications that required a neater
finish. Like a regular hacksaw the blade on a junior
hacksaw can be removed from the frame, however,
in terms of size, a junior hacksaw blade is much
smaller and thinner. Blades are usually 150mm (5.9
inch approx.)
