Setup:

The game is for 2 to 10 players for ages 11 and over. Every player starts with 7 cards and they are
dealt face down. The rest of the cards are placed in a draw pile faced down. Next to the pile there
should be space designated for the discard pile. The top card should be placed on the discard pile
and the game begins.

Game Play:

The first player is usually the player left of the dealer and the game play usually follows a clockwise
direction. The dealer is the player who distributes the 7 cards. After distributing the cards there
should be one card on the top in the discard pile to start the game. The card shouldn't be any
action cards. The action cards include Prokaryote, Eukaryote, Theodor Schwann, Robert Hooke,
Antonie Van Leeuwenhoek cards. The card on the top can be any colour organelle card.
Every player views his/her cards and tries to match the card on the top in the discard pile.

The player has to match the card either by the card that represents that particular organelle, colour
or symbol/action card.
For ex: If the card on the discard pile is a blue nucleus card then the player has to put a blue card
or any colour nucleus card. The player can put any action card also [ for more details refer action
cards column].

If the player does not have a card to match the card on the discard pile he/she must take a card
from the draw pile. If the card picked up can be played then the player is free to put it down in the
same turn. Otherwise the play moves to the next person in turn.
However, player may choose not to play a playable card from their hand. If so, the player must a
draw a card from the draw pile. If playable the player can put the card in the same turn, but the
player cannot use the card from the hand after draw.

Functions of the cards :

ACTION CARDS:

1] Antonie Van Leeuwenhoek Card : The person playing this card calls for any 4 colours
[ blue, green, yellow, orange] to continue the play. This card can be played anytime, even if the
player has another playable card in the hand.

2] Robert Hooke Card: This card is a point scoring card. If the player plays this card then the next
player has to pick up 4 cards and miss his/her turn. The player can use this card anytime to attack
the next player such that he/she does not finish their game that easily.

3] Eukaryote Card: This card reverses the direction of the play. For ex: if the game is going in
clockwise direction, if this card is used it will go in anticlockwise direction. The card may only be
played on a matching colour or other eukaryote card.

4] Prokaryote Card: This card skips the next player’s turn. The next player to the play after this
card should skip or miss his turn. The card may only be played on a matching colour or other
prokaryote card.

5] Theodor Schwann Card: This is also a point scoring card . If the player plays this card then the
next player has to draw 2 cards from the draw pile and has to miss his/her turn . The player can
use this card anytime to attack the next player such that he/she does not finish their game that
easily. The card can only be played on a matching colour or other Theodor Schwann card.

ORGANELLE CARDS:

There are 20 organelle cards in each colour. There are 2 nucleus , 2 mitochondria , 2 cytoplasm, 2
cell membrane,2 rough endoplasmic reticulum, 2 smooth endoplasmic reticulum, 2 Golgi
apparatus, 2 ribosomes,2 lysosomes,2 chromosomes cards in each colour . This organelle cards
are in the form of their name, function and picture . The function and picture represents that
particular organelle. The picture card has a particular organelle highlighted in a particular colour.
The player has to recognise the coloured organelle of the cell and place the card according to it.

The player should place a card of the same colour or the card that represents the organelle card
on the discard pile.

TO WIN :
When a player has last 2 cards the player has to say ‘The cell game’. If the player is caught not
telling it then he/she must pick up 7 cards from the draw pile.
If the player has no cards left then his game is over and he/she wins the game .

If there are more than 2 players then other players can continue the game.
If the last card played is a Robert Hooke card or Theodor Schwann card then the next player must
draw that many number of cards. If the last card of the player is Antonie Van Leeuwenhoek then
the player can decide the colour of his choice. If the last card is a prokaryote card then the next
player has to miss/skip his/her turn and if it is a eukaryote card then the direction of the game will
change.

If no player is out of cards by the time the Draw pile is depleted, the deck is reshuffled and play
continues.
