PHENOLICS

Phenolics, also known as Micarta®, Textolite® and Spauldite®, is a hard, dense material made by applying
heat and pressure to a series of layered material, such as paper or fabric, and then impregnating it with a
synthetic resin. The layered material usually consists of cellulose paper, cotton fabric, synthetic fabric, glass
fabrics or unwoven fabrics. Once the layers are heated and pressure is applied, the layers are transformed
into a high pressure thermosetting industrial laminate.

Benefits:
• Excellent dielectric strength
• Good machinability
• Good dimensional stability
• Good mechanical strength
• Fabric grades (Linen & Canvas) are tougher and less brittle than paper grades
• Able to withstand severe shock loads, repeated bending stress and has good wear resistance
• Glass fabric grades have excellent impact / tensile strength and good heat / electrical resistance
