A. Pengertian
1. Active Voice
Active Voice (Kalimat Aktif) adalah kalimat yang subject-nya berbuat sesuatau atau
melakukan suatu pekerjaan. Dalam bahasa indonesia ciri-ciri kalimat aktif adalah kata
kerjanya selalu berawalan “me-“ dan beberapa lagi memiliki awalan “ber-“. Pada
kalimat aktif (active voice) ini, kita cukup menggunakan bentuk dasar dari kata kerja
(verbs) dalam penyusunan kalimatnya.
2. Passive Voice
Passive Voice (Kalimat Pasif) adalah kalimat dimana subjek dalam kalimat dikenai
aksi datau tindakan. Dalam Bahasa Indonesia, kalimat pasif biasanya ditandai dengan
awalan di- atau ter- pada kata kerjaya. Dalam Bahasa Inggris, membuat kalimat pasif
(Passive Voice) kita harus menambah tobe yang sesuai dengan subjek dan tenses
dalam sebuah kalimat dan mengubah kerja (verb) menjadi bentuk ketiga (Verb 3).

Simple Past Tense Active : Somebody cleaned this room yesterday.
was/were + V3 Passive : This room was cleaned yesterday.
During the night we were all woken up by a loud
explosion.
When was the castle built?
The house wasn’t damaged in the storm but a tree was
blown down.
Present Active : Somebody is cleaning this room at the moment.
Continuous
am/is/are + being Passive : This room is being cleaned at the moment.
Look at those old houses! They are being knocked down.
(shop assistant to customer) Are you being served,
madam?
Present Perfect Active : The room looks nice. Somebody has
