CONFLICT AND PERSECUTION. OF THE NEARLY 22.5 MILLION REFUGEES, OVER HALF ARE CHILDREN. IN ADDITION, 10 MILLION
REFUGEES HAVE BEEN DENIED ACCESS TO BASIC RIGHTS, SUCH AS EDUCATION, HEALTHCARE, EMPLOYMENT, AND FREEDOM.

Inspirational Common Read - In The Sea There Are Crocodiles by Fabio Geda
When 10-year-old Enaiatollah Akbari’s small village in Afghanistan falls prey to Taliban
rule in early 2000, his mother shepherds the boy across the border into Pakistan but has to
leave him there alone to fend for himself. Thus begins Enaiat’s remarkable and often
punishing five-year ordeal, which takes him through Iran, Turkey, and Greece before he seeks
political asylum in Italy at the age of fifteen. many refugees Share similar experiences with
Enaiat as they are forced to flee conflict and are separated from their families and
community in search of a safe place to call home. EnAiat's story is what inspired and fueled
our desire to learn more about refugees and migrants. We hope you will join us in our effort
to support displaced persons worldwide.
