Contingency Plan

Due to how small both the crew list is overall, the chances of something going
wrong/people dropping out of the project is very slim. However, just to be
sure I have made sure that I have back up actors incase the actors I have
cast become incredible ill for example and have to leave the project. My
back up actors are Will Devetta and Max Prior, due to their history of studying
amateur dramatics, they are perfect back up actors if something was to go
wrong. In regards to the locations, the backup for Reg’s house will be my own
house used in the previous production of a music video for Mac Demarcos
“Cooking Up Something Good”. This means that I have everything covered if
something occurred that would drastically affect the final project.

Research Plan
Medium – For my final production, I will be making a short film - titled "Reg" - that
follows the changes faced by a 17 year old upon turning 18 and becoming an
'adult'. This means that for the research I conduct into the medium, I will be analysing
and critically reviewing short films with the incentive to grasp inspiration/knowledge
from them as to how I can make my short as effective as it can be. The short films I
will be analysing are, "The Big Shave" (1967) directed by Martin Scorsese, "Two
Wrongs" (2016) directed by Simon Cade and "Doodlebug" (1997) directed by
Christopher Nolan. I have specifically chosen these three to conduct my research
upon into the medium of Short Films, because they all incorporate various features
that aim to include in my own production "Reg"; whether that be aspects of
narrative, cinematography or screenplay for instance. Although the majority of my
research will revolve around short films, I will also watch various feature films to look
for inspiration also, this is because I want my short film to look professional like a
feature film (there may be some other features of the films I analyse that I can use as
well). The feature films that I will look into will be as follows:
- "Fight Club" (1999) directed by David Fincher.
- "Kes" (1969) directed by Ken Loach.
- "Lady Bird (2017) directed by Greta Gerwig.
If my research into the two mediums is successful, it should drastically improve the
outcome of the short film that I produce, as I will be able to use the most effective
/my favourite features of each film.

Genre – For my research into genre, I will analyze sections of short films that revolve
around social realism and ‘coming-of-age’. Like my research into the Medium, I will
also look at two feature films that are situated in the genre that I am making. This will
mean that for my final product, I can combine elements of both short and feature
length ‘coming-of-age’ social realistic films. I will also collect research from articles
on the internet to make sure that my research is not all just from my point-of-view on
a film or clip.

Contents – The research that I conduct for the content of my short film will involve
the most prolific use of data collection. In terms of information on the subject matters
brought forth in the narrative (growing up with an absent father in Britain for
instance). To collect this information I will look at online articles and
videos/interviews.

Practical Tasks and Professionals – To research into techniques I will look into both
examples of the techniques that I want to emulate by professionals in feature films

SquaredPRD

and research tutorial-like videos on Youtube. I will send out a survey on what
techniques the audience want to see in short films, so I can make sure that the
techniques I chose to use are relevant to the target audience.

Platforms – Due to the popularity and resurgence, if you like, of short films as a
medium on social media sites such as YouTube, I will be premiering and displaying
my film "Reg" on the SquaredPRD Youtube channel. This means that it needs to be as
eye catching and interesting as possible, to make sure that the audience does not
click away within minutes of watching the film. Although “Reg” will be showcased on
Youtube, I will treat the project with the same high caliber professionalism as can be
seen from films that are shown on either T.V or in cinemas worldwide.

Consent Forms
I hereby give my permission to be filmed by Charlie Ker-Gray for his upcoming
production “Reg” for his final project of his first year for Creative Media Production. I
understand that this short film will be posted onto and premiered on the SquaredPRD
Youtube Channel. This meaning that people – of which I do not know – will watch
the short and thus see myself. I am aware that I can pull out of the project at any
time, before the 24th of May 2018, and make the footage in which I am featured
void. I understand that if I decide to leave the project after this date, the appeal will
be declined and the footage used.

I accept that I will need to fund the sufficient cost for travel to various locations and
sets, I also understand that I will need appropriate time to plan my travel and not
leave it to the last minute.
