THE SEVEN REASONS TO VOTE YES
1. History of Success
The 2005 GISD Bond had $0 tax impact. It was essentially free to thetaxpayers. Projects were on time, on target
and on budget and GISD was able to complete an additional 20 improvement projects!

2. Maximize Student Opportunities

Exemplary schools begin with facilities where exemplary teaching and learning can flourish. In 1975, Georgetown
High School was designed for approximately 1,200 students. Today, it is home to approximately 2,250 students.
It is time to complete and open phase 2 of East View High School in order to provide improved and additional
educational and extracurricular opportunities to our students. To that point, $41,200,000 is allocated to complete
the much needed second high school, which will serve students in grades 9-12 and $28,000,000 is allocated to
renovate Georgetown High School, which has not been updated in 35 years.

3. Safe, Appropriate Facilities

Our campuses have been immaculately maintained by caring staff for decades but several of them need our help.
For 45 years, McCoy Elementary has served GISD without substantive renovations. Included in the GISD Bond
Package is $13,500,000 (along with $4,200,000 from the 2005 Bond election) to build a new and improved McCoy
campus as well as much needed renovations to Frost and Purl Elementary Schools.

4. Avoid Crowded Schools

Our way of life is contagious. Just as you chose to make your home and build your life in Georgetown, many
others are doing the same. With one of our middle schools and two of our elementary schools already at capacity,
it is time to plan for future growth. To address this, $17,000,000 will be allocated for development of Elementary
School #11 as well as the development of Middle School #4 to be located next to Mitchell Elementary.

5. Minimal Tax Impact

Georgetown ISD has not raised taxes since the 2004-2005 school year and in the past six years, it has either lowered or
kept its tax rate the same. All of this despite the rapid growth in population within our schools. The projected impact
on the average household is approximately $16.29/mo., which is less than a tank of gas. Most importantly, taxpayers
who are 65 years of age and older who have applied for and receive the Senior Citizen Tax Freeze will not pay an
increase as a result of this school bond election.

6. Created By The Community, For The Community

The Citizens’ Bond Advisory Committee is comprised of 24 diverse community members - parents, business leaders,
PTA and GHS Booster Club volunteers, former educators and Superintendents, two former Trustees, and Sun City
residents. The Committee believes the GISD Bond Election will create an atmosphere of excellence, opportunity and
equity the community of Georgetown expects and deserves.

7. The Time is Now

More competitive bidding, historically low interest rates and increased competition mean the time is now to pass this
bond package for Georgetown ISD. These factors combine to mean more value for our dollars and an advantageous
construction climate for multiple projects.
