AGENDA
1. CHAIRPERSON’S SPEECH
1.1 The chairperson welcomed everyone to the meeting.The meeting started with
the recitation of Al Fatihah.
1.2 She thanked all English teachers for working closely together to ensure the
success of the activities and programmes held by the panel. She hoped for
continous support from all panel members.
2. HEADMASTER’S SPEECH
2.1 En. Kholib bin Abd Hamid thanked all the English teachers for their commitmen
and support.
2.2 The headmaster reminded all the teachers to get early preparations for the year
2018 as all teaching and learning process must be done on the first day of
school.
2.3 He informed the panel that the coordinators for each form must get ready the
annual scheme of work during the holiday and distribute to the respective
teachers during the first staff meeting which will be held on the 24th December
2017
3.1 The chairperson suggested the previous minutes of meeting to be approved. En.
Pakrul Hisyam proposed the minutes to be approved and was seconded by Pn
Norlaili Ali.
4. MATTERS ARISING
4.1 The English Language Panel will continue carrying out the same activities for the
year 2017 as this year with a few changes.
4.2 PBS 2017 – The chairperson also thanked the English teachers for completing
and sending in their PLBS class files and score marks.
How to overcome
Level 1
Give more drilling and exercises.
Use flash cards to attract their attentions.
Level 2
More on reading and writing exercise.
Question-answer activities orally to ensure they understand what
they read.
Use interesting picture cards
More grammar exercisers and usage of dictionaries
6. PROFESSIONAL LEARNING COMMUNITY (PLC)
6.1 Members have been reminded to choose the program in PLC such as Lesson
Study. It will begin in the next year. With this program, it will help each other in
panel to improve their teaching strategies and approach.
7.1 Carry out continuously from year 1 to year 4 ( minimum twice a year)
7.2 Assess the pupils based on the Standard Prestasi and make it offline record.
7.3 Forms and template distributed by the Head of English Panel and can
downloaded from internet ( KSSR online)
8.1 Year 6 Teachers has planned to make the extra class for their pupils and all
year 6 teachers will attend.
8.2 English Language Workshop will be done in May and facilitator will be invited by
Year 6 teachers as they done before this.
Introduction
- CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference) = CEF (Common European
Framework)
= CFR (Common Framework of Reference)
- Need to create a comprehensive, transparent and coherent basis of understanding
as to what
being able to use a language at different levels, regardless of language or location
of
instruction (up to international standards)
- 40 countries around the world are influenced by the CEFR (aligned to educational
policy,
incorporated CEFR into educational system, identified ways to bring own
framework and CEFR,
CEFR- related projects)
- Increase mobility of people and need for mutual recognition of language
qualifications obtained
from other institutions and countries
- Developments in language learning (emphasizes on communication skills –
particularly in
listening and speaking skills)
Aims of CEFR
- To describe in a comprehensive ways (what do actually do when we speak to
each other)
- A common basis (language syllabi, curriculum guidelines, examinations, texbooks)
- To define levels of proficiency on a life- long basis (main things 1. Skills 2. Views)
- ‘roadmap’
o A ten- year plan ( 2016 – 2025 )
o By the year 2025 ( able to see outcomes of the roadmap)
o Adopt CEFR (Common European Framework References of Languages)
o High quality teachers + high quality learning materials + high quality learning
environment
- To familiarize teachers with CEFR in order to create awareness
- Vision (Professor John Leslie Melville Trim- Director of the Council of Europe's Modern
Languages projects
1971 to 1997)
o Central point of reference
o Open to amendment and further development
o Interactive international system
o Produces a solid structure of knowledge, understanding

10.1. The respective teachers are required to prepare and distribute the scheme of
work on 24th December 2017 and make sure to include the date and week as
done in 2017.
11.1 Hope all members can gather to discuss and can help each other to manage
the program and do the best for our school prestige.
