oxygen. Get medical
attention if symptoms appear.
Serious Inhalation:
Evacuate the victim to a safe area as soon as possible. Loosen tight clothing such as a collar, tie, belt or
waistband. If breathing is difficult, administer oxygen. If the victim is not breathing, perform mouth-to-
mouth resuscitation. Seek medical attention.

9.EMERGENCY RESPONSE DATA

FIRE FIRE EXTINGUSHING MEDIA :

For small (incipient) fires, use media such
as "alcohol" foam, dry chemical, or carbon
dioxide. For large fires, apply water from as
far as possible. Use very large quantities
(flooding) of water applied as a mist or
spray; solid streams of water may be
ineffective. Cool all affected containers
with flooding quantities of water.
SPECIFIC HAZARDS:
Flash back possible over considerable
distance. Container explosion may occur
under fire conditions.
Special protective equipment for fire-fighters :
Wear self contained breathing apparatus for
fire fighting if necessary.
FURTHER INFORMATION:
Use water spray to cool unopened containers.

SPILLS : steps to be taken

Shut off leaks If without risk contain leaking liquid on sand or earth .prevent liquid entering into sewer.

10.ADDITIONAL INFORMATIONS

Suspected Human Carcinogen: Depending on the duration of the exposure, periodic medical check-up
recommended. Prolonged exposures (even at low concentration) may cause leukemia. Use of alcoholic
drink enhances the poisonous effect. Person with blood disorder should avoid contact with Benzene.
High concentration can lead to unconsciousness & death. In industry, inhalation is the primary route of
chronic Benzene poisoning. Elimination chiefly through lungs. There is a great individual variation in the
signs and symptoms of chronic benzene poisoning.
