Tony McManus uses: Medium tension, top 13 bottom 56

I’ve tried:

Godin A6 MD – medium, 13, 17, 26, 35, 45, 56 (excellent sound, great tone, easy to play, best so far)

Elixir 13-56 medium, nanoweb, phosphor bronze, bright/smooth (a little hard to play, but bass is stiff

and sound is strong)

Elixir 12-56 light/medium, nanoweb, 80/20 bronze, bright/smooth (the set it came with)

Still to try:

Dadarrio EXP17 coated phosphor bronze, medium, 13-56

Dadarrio EJ17 phosphor bronze, medium, 13-56

Daddario EJ40 Silk & Steel , 11-47, light gauge

Daddario NB 1356 Nickel Bronze, medium, 13-56

Martin strings

Tommy Emmanuel strings

80/20 bronze are called brass and are classic, but sound is dull and mellow, not clear and bright at all.

Phosphor bronze is the longest lasting and the brightest.

Try Nickel Bronze
