Dear Diary,
Today was a busy day. I had a Mathematics and Bahasa Malaysia test. The Mathematics test
was not too difficult but the Bahasa Malaysia test was quite challenging. After school is over,
I had lunch with my friends, Dina and Anisa. We ate at the canteen.

Then, we attended the Music Club meeting. Our teacher advisor said that he would like to
enter our Club for an interstate singing competition. All our club members were very excited
and everyone gave suggestions for songs we should sing. After the meeting, I went for netball
practice.

I was quite tired by the time I got home. After taking a shower I rested for a while. Mother
needed my help to cook dinner. I cooked the rice and stir- fried the vegetables. After dinner
I sat down to do my homework. I had English and Science homework. It took me two hours to
finish my homework.

200 people participate in Awam’s Treasure Walk-a-Hunt

The All Women’s Action Society (Awam) recently organised its ninth Charity Treasure Walk-a-Hunt. The
event, which was held at Tropicana City Mall in Petaling Jaya, brought together about 200 supporters,
including members, participants, sponsors and staff.

“For the past 29 years, Awam has touched the lives of thousands and we could not have done this by
working alone. We need the support from each and every one of you to make us a better society. By working
together to put an end to violence against our women and girls, we can build a louder voice,” said Awam
president Ho Yock Lin during the opening ceremony.

The event featured 41 teams comprising 147 participants. The Nutty Troopers team emerged on top and
won a four-day-three-night Krabi-Phuket cruise on board SuperStar Libra.

The issue of gender equality was highlighted during a pop quiz for participants. Participants were tested on
their knowledge of gender- based violence and the politicisation of ethnicity and religion.

The event was made possible by main sponsor Star Cruises and venue sponsor Tropicana City Mall, as well as
many others who contributed donations in cash and kind.

Awam’s next campaign, the White Ribbon Run and Walk, will be held on Dec 7. For more information and
