Fatal Accident Investigation

8:15 a.m.

At approximately 9:21 p.m. on May 20, 2018, Maplewood Police & Fire personnel were
dispatched to the 1900 block of Prosperity Road regarding a child who was not breathing.
Police learned that 1 year-old Andrew Her had been struck by a vehicle.

Her was transported via Maplewood Fire Department/EMS to Regions Hospital where he was
pronounced dead. The Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office is expected to conduct an
autopsy.

Preliminary investigation revealed Her, who was thought to be inside the home, was struck by
a vehicle as family members shifted parking places. The driver of the vehicle has been
cooperative and is not believed to have been under the influence. Cmdr. Dave Kvam said,
“This is a terrible tragedy affecting Andrew’s parents, family, and all who knew him.”

Maplewood Police continue to investigate. There is no timeline on the investigation, but it will
not be concluded until all available facts are known.
