Check  In  (professional/personal):  

Purpose:    Begin  with  the  check  in  process  to  establish  rapport  and  determine  the  candidate’s  frame  of  mind.  
Listen  attentively  and  be  in  the  moment.  
Sample  Prompts  or  Action:  
•   Ask  the  candidate  how  they  feel  today;  how  are  things  going,  professionally  and/or  personally?  
•   Utilize  the  Creative  Energy  Check-­‐In  from  ACSA  Leadership  Coaching  (ALC)  training.  

Success  and  Obstacles:  

Purpose:    Cite  specific  examples  and  evidence  of  leadership  development,  learning  and  impact.    
Sample  Prompts  or  action:  
•   Share  successes  or  celebrations  that  illustrate  success  toward  your  goal  or  CPSEL  attainment.  
•   Identify  challenges  or  obstacles  that  provide  an  opportunity.    
•   Ask  if  there  are  any  immediate  issues  or  concerns.  
 
Focus  of  meeting  -­‐‑  Candidate  Goal(s)  and  CPSEL  Attainment:  

Purpose:    Determine  what  the  candidate  wants  to  accomplish  from  the  coaching  session.  
Sample  Prompts  or  Action:  
•   Review  of  goal(s),  agreed  upon  action  steps,  professional  development  and  data.  
•   Review  Descriptions  of  Practice  (DOP)  to  determine  areas  of  growth  and  CPSEL  attainment.  
•   Discuss  what  the  candidate  would  like  to  accomplish  from  the  day's  coaching  session.  
 
Candidate’s  and  Coach’s  Next  Steps:  

Purpose:    Determine  actions  or  follow  up  to  be  accomplished  prior  to  the  next  meeting.  
Sample  Prompts  or  action:  
•   Consider  action  steps  toward  Individual  Induction  Plan  (IIP)  Leadership  Learning  Goal  (LLG)  and  
CPSEL  attainment.    
•   Discuss  professional  development  needs  and  choices  (20  hours/year).  
•   Record  candidate  and  coach  commitments  to  be  accomplished  prior  to  next  meeting.
