Candidates  complete  the  CPSEL  Self-­‐Assessment  three  times  during  the  Clear  Administrative  Credential  
Program:    Initial  Assessment  (within  first  90  days),  Benchmark  (end  of  Year  1)  and  Final  Assessment  (end  
of  Year  2).

1.   With  the  assistance  of  the  leadership  coach,  use  Moving  Leadership  Standards  into  Everyday  
Work:  Descriptions  of  Practice  (Kearney,  2015)  and  read  the  descriptions  of  leadership  behaviors  
and  dispositions  for  each  CPSEL  Element.    
a.   Begin  with  the  Standard  1,  Element  1A  (or  start  with  the  Standard(s)  in  your  area(s)  of  
strength.  
b.   Start  with  “Directed  Towards  Standard”  column.    Highlight  the  descriptors  you  know  and  
do  consistently  well.  
c.   Repeat  for  the  “Approaching  Standards,”  “Meets  Standards”  and  “Exemplifies  
Standards”  columns.  
d.   Mark  the  appropriate  level  that  best  describes  your  practice  and  application  of  the  
Standard  in  the  Self-­‐Assessment  chart  for  the  appropriate  timeline  during  the  program.  
2.   Provide  a  brief  example  of  evidence  in  the  Reflections  portion  of  the  Self-­‐Assessment  for  those  
Elements  that  are  clearly  marked  at  “Meets  Standards”  and/or  “Exemplifies  Standards”.  
3.   Replicate  this  process  with  each  California  Professional  Standards  for  Educational  Leaders  
(CPSEL).  
4.   Include  the  completed  Self-­‐Assessment  and  Reflections  form  in  your  portfolio.
   
 
             It  may  be  helpful  to  utilize  the  chart  below  to  determine  where  you  are  on  the  continuum  of                  
             development.
