BRIEF INTRODUCTION TO CRYPTOCURRENCIES

What are cryptocurrencies?

Described in the simplest way, cryptocurrencies are digital assets stored on computer databases
around the world.

Anyone can purchase these digital assets, and as a result their price goes up when more people buy,
and down as more people sell, just as the exchange rate constantly changes for your own country’s
currency as traders buy and sell it.

But unlike the (fiat) money in your pocket or bank account, cryptocurrencies are not issued or
controlled by any sovereign state or central bank- they’re ruled by plain, logical computer code.

Why are cryptocurrencies important?

Bitcoin was originally created in 2009 as a currency free from any central bank authority.

At the time the world’s central banks were hell-bent on printing money to inflate the world out of a
debt bubble- and the inflation money printing brings is bad news for anyone who wants their money to
retain its spending power.

As Bitcoin’s popularity has grown, many other coins have been created, most sharing the same set of
attributes.

Security

Each and every transaction of a cryptocurrency is recorded in a single file, called a blockchain, of
which copies are stored across thousands of servers around the world, creating a robust,
decentralized system.

What is blockchain?

Blockchains are the reasons that cryptocurrencies work. You could almost consider them the brains
of the whole operation! You see a blockchain is a database, but it’s not just a simple, traditional
database that sits in one local on (or even several) – in fact, you can expect that blockchain
databases reside in thousands, if not tens or hundreds of thousands of computers around the world.

The blockchain technology was introduced with Bitcoin for the first time in 2008 by Sathoshi
Nakamoto. However, Blockchain is NOT Bitcoin. Bitcoin utilises the blockchain technology to function,
but they are not the same thing.

You can think of Bitcoin as your smartphone sitting on top of a cellular network. There can be (and
are) many cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, but they all need to have a network to work on and that is
where blockchain comes into the picture.

Why blockchain?

© CryptoTrendRider.com User Manual v1.04 4

Investors, economists, and entrepreneurs are all paying attention to this new technology that's
changing the financial landscape.

Blockchain technology is the driver behind cryptocurrency. It's what makes the currency legitimate,
safe, and possible.

Blockchain technology makes it possible to cut out the third party (the bank, the federal reserve's, or
any other financial institution). Financial agencies exist to oversee transactions between parties.
Basically, we need someone to trust with the money. It takes the control away from third parties and
puts that control back in the hands of the two parties involved in the transaction (the end user).

Understanding blockchain technology?

A blockchain is a chain of mathematical proofs. These proofs keep track of every transaction made,
eliminating the need for a third party.

Here's how it works: groups of people, known as miners, use strong computers to solve a
mathematical proof each time a transaction is made. The proof serves to verify that the accounts
have enough funds. Once the proof is completed, it's added to the chain of blocks.

Once a proof is added, it's virtually impossible to remove it. This makes records permanent. No one
can go in and erase a previous transaction. The reason is the complexity of the proofs.

When given the inputs (the numbers involved in the transactions), the proof can be solved using only
highly powerful computers. But without those original inputs, it's virtually impossible to work
backwards to remove the record.

These records are public. But the identities of the accounts are not. This means that, although
anyone can verify a transaction, no one knows how much currency an individual is controlling at any
given time.

The blockchain can be used in a variety of applications, not just financial. but the concept is the
same. It is an extremely safe and robust technology that has the potential to disrupt many industries
with less of a dependence on third-party institutions.

Accessibility

All that’s required to send and receive cryptocurrencies, anywhere in the world, is a device capable of
accessing the internet.

Transparency

Almost every cryptocurrency presents its code for the world to see (called open source).

Anyone so minded can audit the code themselves to be sure nothing nefarious is going on. Open
source code provides trust in the system- people can be corrupted, but code obeys logic.
Immutability

Security & transparency combine to make it all-but impossible for someone to change the transaction

© CryptoTrendRider.com User Manual v1.04 5

history of a cryptocurrency, as each coins movement has been stored in thousands of identical
blockchain files across the world.

Speed

Bank transfers take days. Cryptocurrency transfers can be instantaneous, or take up to an hour,
depending on the currency used.

Cost

Sending cryptocurrencies across countries and borders requires no conversion fee.

All of these characteristics combine to give crypto impressive benefits over fiat currency - you don’t
have to trust any third parties with your money, its movement is cheap, quick and recorded on an
incorruptible ledger for anyone to see and confirm themselves.

HOW TO GET STARTED TRADING WITH CRYPTOCURRENCY
1. RETAIL EXCHANGE & WALLET

You will need to firstly be able to deposit and withdraw money from the cryptocurrency market.

We recommend you setup an account with COINBASE if you are looking to do local currency
transactions.

Coinbase

When they started Coinbase they figured a great feature to have in a bitcoin wallet would be the
ability to convert your local currency into and out of bitcoin.

They were right. Since launching this feature they’ve helped millions of people convert billions of
dollars worth of local currency into and out of bitcoin.

In a retail exchange, people want an easy way to convert their government backed currency into and
out of bitcoin.

This requires building relationships with banks and regulators in many countries, and is a highly
regulated business.

All third party apps must pass a stringent review process.

Customers are more tolerant of high friction on-boarding (since it is the norm with financial services)
and less privacy. And the way you’d measure success is probably trading volume.

© CryptoTrendRider.com User Manual v1.04 7

Wallets and exchanges also have a few things in common; for example, both require the ability to
send and receive bitcoin. Another shared requirement is the ability to store bitcoin securely.

Without an exchange, people can’t easily get their money into and out of bitcoin.

Exchanges are the equivalent of ISPs at the start of the internet — they provide connectivity which
enables the network to grow.

Without a wallet, people can’t really start to use crypto in a global, low friction, novel ways.

Wallets are the sandbox where the most innovative apps will emerge. They are perhaps the web
browsers of the internet analogy.

Coinbase the brand has shifted from being a hybrid wallet/exchange to focusing on purely being a
retail and institutional exchange.

They have created GDAX (http://www.gdax.com) exchange for high volume exchange trading to
separate the brands. We recommend you sign up to Coinbase first and then it’s a one click setup
process to create your gdax account.

Coinbase is #1 in market share in the U.S. as a retail exchange and institutional exchange. And
having launched in 32 countries, they are leading or gaining in many of those markets as well.

Their goal is to be the leading global brand for helping people convert digital currency into and out of
their local currency.

I also think a large number of people will continue to use Coinbase as a wallet.

SUMMARY

What we will use Coinbase for:

- To store USD/GBP/EUR/BTC/ETH
- To deposit upto $1000 week instantly from your bank account.
- To make withdrawals into your bank account quickly.

To setup all you need to do is:

Click HERE or copy and paste the following link into your browser:

After you have signed up to Coinbase you can setup a GDAX exchange trading account quickly.

GDAX - http://www.gdax.com/ - Coinbase is their consumer product to have users buy into crypto
and Gdax is there financial exchange for serious trading, it doesn’t offer many alt coins but it’s a great
addition.

(Transfers between your Coinbase wallets and GDAX account are instant and free. Deposits to
GDAX are unlimited, however withdrawals from GDAX are limited by your exchange withdrawal limit,
which starts at $10,000/day.)

Additional Wallets

If you want to store all your digital currencies outside of Coinbase there are a lot of good wallets out
there. Here is one we can recommend.

Jaxx — Software Wallet (www.jaxx.io)

Carrying your crypto around safely and conveniently is no longer a distant dream. Behold Jaxx, the
world’s first mobile wallet solution. Versions for iOS, Android, desktop and browser are now available.
Jaxx uses a mnemonic seed to back up your wallet or transfer it to a different device. Jaxx allows you
to receive your funds, scan QR code, view your crypto holdings, all in one intuitive app. Advanced
features such as shapeshift integration and multiple platforms wallet linkage makes this the preferred
wallet for the tech savvy. The only drawback with this wallet is that it might have a steep learning
curve, and features might not be stable with all the new integrations. With time, this will prove to be a
promising solution.

2. BUYING ADDITIONAL BITCOIN TO TRANSFER TO WALLET OR EXCHANGE

You can do it at Coinbase but you will be limited per week and also with withdrawls until you go
through additional verification.

To buy outside of Coinbase through person-to-person exchanges here are a few recommendations;

XCoins - https://xcoins.io/?r=79l26x - Once bought you can transfer to your wallet or exchange.

Local Bitcoins - https://localbitcoins.com/?ch=mwmu - Once bought you can transfer to your wallet or
exchange.

© CryptoTrendRider.com User Manual v1.04 10

To buy Bitcoin in small amounts quickly and without verification you can use VirWox.

VirWox - https://www.virwox.com?r=238829

High Fees but quick entrance for small investors less than $100. (May take 24hrs for your first
transfer to be processed out of VirWox into your wallet or exchange) Transfer to SLL and then from
SLL into BTC. Once in BTC you can transfer to your personal wallet or exchange quickly.

© CryptoTrendRider.com User Manual v1.04 11

3. SETTING UP TRADING EXCHANGES

As you will see Coinbase only offers to store a few cryptocurrencies like BTC/ETH/LTC but more
importantly it stores Local Currency like USD.

Your local currency is your base store currency if the entire crypto market starts falling you can
transfer into local currency and then back into crypto when they market recovers.

To trade all the cryptocurrency our CTR signals provides against USD/BTC/ETH and more you need
to select an exchange that provides a lot more assets.

CTR is optimised to work with every exchange. But if you want to just trade on coinbase/gdax you
are limited to much less signals per day so we highly recommend you setup a trading exchange.

An amazing attribute of decentralised trading is that you can trade across exchanges without having
to deposit at any of them or go through tedious verification checks plus you can withdraw instantly via
cryptocurrency.

We recommend you setup lots of exchanges and never rely on one, transfer funds out of the
exchange and into your personal wallet as often as possible so you are never at risk or
exposure.

You can transfer funds in and out of exchanges and into competitor exchanges quickly. In the
financial industry they would never allow you to transfer funds from one broker to another and then
store funds in your bank account each night.

Here are some of the exchanges we recommend that can provide you great options for trading CTR
Signals:

Here is 24 TOP crypto trading exchanges we can recommend in 2018:

HitBTC Binance Bit-Z Coin Egg Livecoin BiBox

BitBay BitFlip BleuTrade Gate.IO YoBit Cryptopia

OTCBTC EXMO Coinbase / BitMEX CEX Bitso

GDAX

FatBTC BTCTrade CoinBene BTC Alpha Mercatox EZBTC

Remember; Crypto Trend Rider Works with ALL cryptocurrency exchanges but some exchanges
may not provide the assets we give signals on..

© CryptoTrendRider.com User Manual v1.04 12

OUR RECOMMENDED TRADING EXCHANGE FOR CTR SIGNALS & CTR ELITE SIGNALS IS:

BINANCE - http://cryptotrendrider.com/goto/binance

This has amazing selection of coins to trade and our core CTR & Elite signals are optimised on the
entrance and exit prices of this trading exchange.

Note: You can also buy crypto at the exchanges, but you may have delays if you will have delays
when you do bank transfers. We advise to deposit through coinbase or but from localbitcoins or
xcoins and then transfer those funds from your wallet into the exchange.

We recommend you transfer your funds out of the exchanges and back in to your wallet regularly to
avoid any risk from exchange hack attacks. You can transfer funds quickly from your wallet into the
exchange and this for us is the safest and secure way to start.

If you are looking to trade high volume, please do your due diligence with the exchange to make sure
you are comfortable working with if you choose to do so.

4. HOW TO DEPOSIT FUNDS TO AND FROM YOUR EXCHANGE & WALLET.

If you use Click or copy and paste the following link into your browser:

to sign up to Coinbase we'll both receive ten dollars of free coins when you spend over $100 (or the
equivalent in your currency).

8
Press the 'sign up' button and fill out your name (make sure this is exactly how it's written on your
photo ID), email, password and location.

Just like a US bank, Coinbase is regulated by the US government, and has to follow strict financial
rules. So they take verifying your identity very seriously. It's a pain, but it does give Coinbase a
reputation for being the most trusted way to convert fiat currency to cryptocurrency.

To verify your account you must supply a phone number, upload an image of your photo ID and verify
a credit/debit card or bank account before you can buy.

Note: If you have problems verifiying your ID using your computer, try downloading the Coinbase app
(on Iphone or Android), signing into your Coinbase account and verifying your ID using your phone
camera.

© CryptoTrendRider.com User Manual v1.04 14

9
Using a credit/debit card on Coinbase means higher fees but offers instant purchasing. Using a bank
transfer is cheaper but slower (taking up to a week to get your coins).

Once your payment details are verified, click 'buy/sell' on the top menu.

Select 'Bitcoin', and at the bottom of the page choose how much to spend in your local currency / how
many coins you want to buy.

Once you're happy with the amount, click the big 'Buy' button.

© CryptoTrendRider.com User Manual v1.04 15

You'll be asked to confirm your purchase.

Press the 'Confirm Buy' button.

Congratulations! You now own some Bitcoin. But don't close Coinbase yet, we're going to need it
again in a few minutes.

We'll use the site Binance for an example to trade Bitcoin/USD/Ethereum against other
cryptocurrencies. Click here to go to Binance, and click 'Register' on the top right menu.

© CryptoTrendRider.com User Manual v1.04 16

Enter your email and a strong password (that you won't forget!).

Click 'Register'.

13
You will be sent an email to confirm your email address.

Click the link in the email.

© CryptoTrendRider.com User Manual v1.04 17

You will be taken back to Binance as your email is confirmed. Press 'Login'.

On the login form, enter the email and password you just used to sign up, then press 'Login'.

A pop-up will advise you to set up 2FA (two factor authentication) on your account.

We strongly advise you to do this- in the event a hacker manages to get hold of your password,
this second level of security makes it very unlikely they will be able to get into your Binance account.

We recommend using the google authorisation app on your mobile phone or your web browser.

© CryptoTrendRider.com User Manual v1.04 18

Hover your mouse over 'FUNDS' on the top menu and click on 'Deposits Withdrawals'.
This screen displays any coins you have stored on Binance- obviously none at the moment.

Type 'Ethereum or Bitcoin' in the search box depending on what you will transfer in to the exchange.

This will narrow the wallets displayed to just a few- in those, find Ethereum for example.
Press 'Deposit'. You will be given a Ethereum deposit address (a long string of numbers and letters).
Copy this address and keep it somewhere safe as we're going to need it soon.

Note: Double check you've actually selected Ethereum (ETH)- if you send your coins to the wrong
wallet you will lose them.

Now, return to Coinbase. Click 'Accounts' from the top menu, then find your Ethereum wallet for
example listed on the left. Click 'Send'.

In the 'Recipient' box, paste the Ethereum wallet address we just copied from Binance.
© CryptoTrendRider.com User Manual v1.04 19
In amount, type how much Ethereum for example you wish to send (there is a 'use max' option if you
wish to send it all). Click 'Continue'.

Coinbase may ask you to confirm with your password/phone. Follow the instructions until it confirms
the Crypto you selected are sent.

19
Now we've got to wait a few minutes for the coins to move across the network.

Unless there's an unusually large network backlog, the coins will take between 20 and 60 minutes to
appear in your Binance wallet.

Binance will update automatically so there's no need to refresh the page.

Here's some share buttons to make it easy:
Like Share
Once the Ethereum shows in your 'available balance' we're ready to trade.

© CryptoTrendRider.com User Manual v1.04 20

The exchange page can look overwhelming at first, but don't worry, we're only going to use a small
part of it.

There are two ways of buying coins:

A 'Limit' order, which lets you manually set the price at which you want to buy OMG.

A 'Market' buy, which fills your order automatically at the best price available.

As market buy is the simpler of the two options we'll show an example with that.

Look for the big green 'Buy COIN' button.

Above it, click the 'Market' option.

In the input box marked 'Amount' you now need to fill in how much of the coin you'd like to buy. It may
be easier to use the percentage buttons below the input box- for example, press 50% if you'd like to
exchange 50% of your Base currency BTC/ETH/USDT for OMG.

When you're happy with the amount, press the buy button.
Your order will be filled immediately.

© CryptoTrendRider.com User Manual v1.04 21

Press 'Funds' along the top menu, then 'Deposits Withdrawals'.

In the search box, type the COIN your just bought. You will now see your new COIN in your COIN
wallet on the exchange.

If you're comfortable with it, you could just leave your coins on Binance and they would probably be
safe.

However, exchanges have been hacked in the past, and people have lost coins, so we do
recommend you keep them in a personal wallet.

You simply reverse the order of tasks you performed in this guide.

For example, you send your coins from Binance back to coinbase and store in your personal wallet.

Important: We recommend you transfer funds out of the exchange and into your personal
wallet as often as possible. This is an amazing attribute of decentralised trading you can
trade across exchanges without having to deposit at any of them or go through tedious
verification checks and withdraw instantly.

Table Columns

• Dur – the duration from the beginning of the pump till current signal.
• Num – the number of the signal in the sequence of the pump.
• Trades – amount of trade in the pump i.e. order book history.
• Vol. BTC – number of bitcoins traded in current pump sequence.
• Change – the change in price from the beginning of the pump.
• ROI – the actual ROI that could be potentially made by the signal.

© CryptoTrendRider.com User Manual v1.04 32

HOW TO USE THE P&D SIGNALS

P&D Signals feature tracks in real-time all the prices across all the markets on certain exchanges
which are implemented in the platform. The feature automatically detects high increase of a price in
short period of time, then analyse the order book history to identify the presence of a pump.

Signals will be delivered frequently, each pump sequence in the market can be identified by the
indicator of time elapsed from the beginning of the pump. Not all the pumps are quick, some of them
might take days.

The feature tracks thousands of markets in real-time which is possible only by a machine, this way
detects pumps which wasn’t announced in public spaces. The signals which are delivered, are only
suggestions, they are not 100% accurate. Each trader should develop his own strategy to follow the
signals.

Here’s our suggested P&D Signals strategy for safe and secure profits:

- Market volume should be higher than $2,400 in past 24 hours.

- Get in on the second signal. Each signal is a part of a sequence, the first signal should focus
your attention on the market, when second signal was delivered from same sequence you’ll
notice in the order history book that the pump is live. At this moment you should take the
decision.

THE CTR SIGNALS ENGINE EXPLAINED
The main CTR Signals page has 4 boxes on the top.

• The Date - represent the current date for the signals in the table.
• The Base Currency Box – Is the Base currency of the Signal, for instance if you are trading
USD against IOTA, USD would be the base currency. If you select BTC you will use BTC as
the base currency.
• Last 24H signals - is the number of signals that was generated in the past 24 hours.
• Next update - time till the page will be refreshed and the signals in the tables will be update
(moved between the tables).
• Success Indicator - represents current success rate of the system. (Uses a traffic Light System
to give warning signs, Red = Critcal Market Conditions, Orange = Volatile Market Conditions,
Green = Success Rate is High. When the Red or Orange signs appear be very selective in
your trading if you trade or wait for a GREEN live market sign to trade to guarantee high
success rate )

The page has 3 views of signals: Open (New Signal), In Progress (Track Signal) and Closed (Trade
Results).

The signals are moved from one view to another based on their progress.

Open - provides a table with new generated signals.

(moves to in progress when signal progress got updated)

In Progress - show all the live signals that already in progress.

(moves to closed when strategy delivered SELL sign and marked as SOLD)

© CryptoTrendRider.com User Manual v1.04 34

Closed - all the closed signals that was SOLD by the SELL signal of the strategy. All signals are
tracked and verified and you will see a 24hr & 7 day ROI of current performance.

Explanations of each column title in the tables:

• Timestamp - represents when the signal was generated (UTC+00)

• Cryptocurrency - the crypto currency.
• Ticker - the symbol of the crypto currency (clickable).
• Strategy - represents 1 out of 44 different strategies.
• Signal Type - will always be 'Buy' signal.
• Trend Strength - represents the strength of the trend the signal based on. High trend
strength means that the trend is formed and it's solid.
• Momentum Strength - represents the strength of the momentum.
• High momentum represents high demand which then leads to a strong trend. So, the
momentum strength is the first important aspect to look at. When the momentum is high,
but the trend is still low there is a bigger change you can ride the trend that is going to be
formed shortly.
• Signals – Amount of Signals delivered for the time period stated
• ROI – Each signals is delivered by one of the 44 strategies and each signal produces a
result, the combined ROI is then shown for the 24hr or 7 day period based on the
combined returns.
• Details - link to signal page.
• Follow - will add the signal to member's Watchlist feature.

© CryptoTrendRider.com User Manual v1.04 35

HOW TO USE THE WATCHLIST FEATURE
This important feature we included lets you easily track the signals you decide to trade. This enables
quick following and tracking of your selected signals so you can hold and exit the trade easily.

Depending on which signal you select 5 minute / 15 minute or 60 minute you will require to check
every 5/15/60 minutes for an update status on the signal.

Click the Details text and you will be shown a page which updates the status on the signals it will say
HOLD or it will tell you to SELL when its time to exit the trade.

Every CTR signal is tracked and verified at Crypto Trend Rider even if you do not select the signal to
trade. This will give you insight into how the strategies are performing over time periods and also
over coins so you can make a better judgement on which signals you select for the day.

© CryptoTrendRider.com User Manual v1.04 36

HOW DO THE STRATEGIES & INDICATORS WORK?
We include 24 different indicators inside our 44 different trading strategies. Every signal is generated
from each of the strategies included in the CTR Signals. Each strategy currently supports 3 different
signal timeframes, 5-minute, 15 minutes and 60 Minutes.

For example;

TR Strategy 01.03 = 5 Minute Timeframe - (Check signal status every 5 minutes)

TR Strategy 01.04 = 15 Minute Timeframe - (Check signal status every 15 minutes)
TR Strategy 01.07 = 60 Minute Timeframe - (Check signal status every 60 minutes)

When the signal shows a high probability of success it generates the trigger to BUY the
cryptocurrency.

You can track the progress by clicking the FOLLOW text and it will add colour code and it will
automatically add your signal to the Watchlist feature so you can monitor it easily.

If you can click the DETAILS text and it will take you to a full view page of the trading signal.

© CryptoTrendRider.com User Manual v1.04 37

If the signal is based on 5 minutes graph, every 5 minute there will be an update available for the
signal on it's tracking page. It's could be that sometimes there will be not update when it's expected, it
depends on the market activity, if the market is quiet and there is no change in the rates of the
currency it's possibly that will be no update.

Each update can have 3 different statuses: BUY, HOLD and SELL.

The BUY status appears by default when the signal is generated. It will always be first, it will
represent the BUY rate of the currency and the timeframe when it was generated.

The HOLD status is a waiting sign, don't sell, wait for the next update. It means that based on
the indicators of the market the logic of the strategy decided to hold the coin and don't sell it yet.

The SELL status will appear when it's the time to sell the coins. No matter if it's win or lose
situation. This decision was made by our system which is based on the strategy that generated the
BUY signal at the beginning and now ends it.

Each update (status) row will have the following columns:

• Timestamp - is the time of the update.

• Price - is the price of the currency for that moment (close rate).
• Change - is the change between the current update price and the open rate price in
percentage (the ROI).
• Profit - is the profit in dollars.
• Action - is the update status.

The CLOSED signal page contains more fields such as Open Rate, Close Rate, Profit and ROI.
Which represents the end status of the signal.

Once you click details you’ll see all the information about the signal on the following page.

SAFETY CHECKLIST
As a first step in coin acquisition, it is important to take note of the following security measures.

Secure Your Computer - You may not be aware, but your computer may already have
malware that is ready to capture all your keystrokes, waiting for important credentials to pro t
from. Check by installing an antivirus with an updated database of viruses and malware
definitions.

Avoid Visiting Scam-looking Websites - These could be sites that offer free downloads,
MP3s, videos, torrents and other sites that don’t have reputable contents. There are sites that
have a lot of pop-up advertisements and chances are, malwares are hiding somewhere within
those pages. Take note, you will be using your computer to store valuable investment
information including your private keys and wallet addresses.

Avoid Re-using Your Password or Email Address - Use a different email address and
password combination for exchanges than the one you use for Facebook, LinkedIn, or other
social media sites. This reduces the chance of security breaches to your email address in
case one of the social media sites get hacked. Similarly, avoid using the same email address
and password combination on different exchanges, in case one exchange gets breached.

Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) When Creating an Account - Two-factor

authentication puts an additional level of security on your account. Even if your username and
password is discovered, the random number generated by 2FA will require access to your
mobile phone. DO NOT USE 2FA with keys sent as a TEXT message to your mobile phone.

Avoid Accessing Exchanges via Mobile Device - Use a different device to access the
website, other than the device you have your 2FA keys installed on.

Secure Your Mobile Device - If possible, use a different device for accessing various areas
of the internet than the one you have your 2FA keys installed on. It is also recommended that
you do not bring your mobile device wherever you go, keeping it safe in the workspace where
you do your buying or trading.

Avoid Accessing Using Public Internet Access - Although there are encryption protocols in
place, there are public WIFI connections that are insecure. There is a risk that the private keys
you send out through that internet connection will be captured by malicious individuals.

Do A Small Test Transaction Before Going Big - This reduces the payload for mistakes.
Once you gain 100% assurance that the transaction pushed through, that’s the time to send
the rest.

CRYPTOCURRENCY GLOSSARY
Here is a glossary to help make sense of the cryptocurrency language.

While you’re still learning about cryptocurrencies it’s common to bounce from fascination to confusion
within the same sentence - it’s a brand new technology after all, and some of these terms haven’t
fallen into common use yet.

So it’s useful to have a glossary of crypto words to reference before it all starts to sound like
gibberish. Let’s start with the big one:

Blockchain

It’s pretty simple really- a blockchain is a huge file of information containing the complete history of
every transaction of a coin ever made. Most cryptocurrencies have their own blockchain, such as
Bitcoin and Dash, and some piggyback on the blockchain of another, such as Golem, which exists as
a token on the Ethereum blockchain.

Digital Wallet Address

A sequence of letters and/or numbers, usually between 27 and 34 characters. Every address is
unique. Here’s an example of a Bitcoin address: 1MvSr21cJZhnLxbLc4o8fVsE6viFWfsqWA. Every
coins that exists on a blockchain is assigned to a wallet address- making it easy to see who owns
what.

Digital Wallet

You store physical money in your physical wallet, you store digital money in your digital wallet-
software either installed on your computer or on a secure server, which allows you to interact with
digital coins and store them at a digital address.

Private Key

Every digital address has a unique private key that has the power to open its corresponding wallet
without the need of a password. So, when you set up your own digital wallet on one of the guides on
this site and are given your own private key, you should make a point of storing it safely and never,
ever sharing it with anyone.

Hardware wallet

A physical device devoted to keeping coins safe- by keeping your digital wallet’s private key stored
and encrypted. Without access to the hardware wallet, which is itself protected by a password, no-
one can access your digital wallet except yourself. I highly recommend getting one yourself if you
have any amount of crypto you’d be upset to lose.

Alt Coins

To some people everything but Bitcoin is an alt coin. To some people everything but Bitcoin and
Litecoin is an alt coin. To some people everything but Bitcoin and Ethereum is an alt coin. You see
where I’m going with this- what makes a coin an alt coin is based on the opinion of whomever you
ask. Though remember Bitcoin did come first, so I’m not sure it will ever be considered an alt coin.

Fiat Currency

Fiat currency is defined as legal tender whose value is backed by the government that issued it. So
think dollars, pounds, euros etc. Crypto has no central bank so it’s not a fiat currency.

Digital currencies exchange

This is a web platform that facilitates the conversion of one coin to another (for example Bitcoin to
Ethereum) based on the current exchange rate. Some platforms allow you to buy crypto using fiat
currency, for example Coinbase, while others specialize in converting digital coin to digital coin, for
example Changelly.

ICO (initial coin offering) or Token Sale

An initial coin offering is a means of crowdfunding using cryptocurrency, where a startup company will
release a digital currency for investors to purchase (often in the hope it’s going to be the ‘next big
thing’).

Dapp

Shorthand for a Decentralized Application, a Dapp is a piece of software with a standard UI (user
interface) but utilizing a decentralized back-end, meaning it doesn’t run on your computer, instead
typically making use of a blockchain and smart contracts.

Smart Contract

Smart contracts help people exchange money, property, shares- pretty much anything of value- in a
transparent, conflict-free way. Both parties can see the code of the contract, and thus the outcome.
Smart contracts also avoid the services of a middleman- for instance, when sending money to a
friend, banks are the middlemen, taking their cut every step of the way.

Open Source

Software that has its original source code freely available for download so it can be audited, modified
and redistricted by anyone.
